We’re finally getting around to baking the Christmas gingerbread and sugar cookies! Chickadee loves using her little rolling-pin to help me with the dough!
This morning I stopped at Schnucks to pick up a few things for Christmas. I was not expecting to run into Anna from Frozen while I was there. Of course I had to run back home and get Chickadee, so she could meet her, too. I loved seeing her face light up when we found her in the store! Chickadee was especially tickled when Anna told her that when she got home, she had to give Sven a bath, or he’d ruin their Christmas party!
Today is Nutcracker Day! We used to stretch our ballet viewing out across a whole week in December, but for the last few years, we’ve taken a day to watch as many versions (we’re up to six, I think), as we can, back-to-back, usually while I bake cookies for the church Cookie Walk. Chickadee was very excited to not only watch, but read along with one of our Nutcracker picture books!
Chickadee loves visiting Belleville’s Main Street at this time of year. There are gingerbread creations to admire, cut-outs to pose in (she’s lucky Ladybug was willing to play along and be the Beast to her Belle!), a giant Christmas countdown calendar, and her favorite, larger-than-life nutcrackers guarding the entrances to the Christkindlmarkt that let her pretend she’s Clara in the Nutcracker!
