Before today, I had no idea that there was such a thing as a vertical-lift bridge. Frankly, I wish I was still ignorant of it, but we watched it go up and down twice…and drove across it twice, so there’s no pretending it doesn’t exist. With apologies to Hardin, I hope that I never have a reason to go back there, and drive across that bridge again!
