2014-15 School Year–Week Twenty-Three

We started last week with a field trip to the Botanical Garden…a fun way to spend a snowy Monday!

In math, Turkey and Bunny continued working on geometry, adding cylinders to their list of items of which they can find the volume. Ladybug has continued working on ratios and interpreting line graphs.

We finished up our Black History Month study with the Civil Rights Movement, and spent some extra time learning about Ruby Bridges, who had a fascinating story. In medieval history, we studied Babur’s Indian empire. We especially enjoyed reading about his “Garden of Scattered Flowers,” because it sounds a lot like the Ottoman Garden in the Missouri Botanical Garden, which is one of our favorite places to visit.

We have almost finished our botany study…just a little bit more about nonvascular plants, and we’ll be done. I’m planning on spending some time next week looking at different plant samples under our microscope.

Next week is our last week of school before our spring break, and I’m really looking forward to having some time off!
