Last week just flew by!

We finished Mr. Pipes and the British Hymn Makers on Friday. Of the 18 hymns writers discussed in the book, we were able to find 16 in Lutheran Service Book, and they are responsible for 69 of its hymns. Even I was shocked to discover so many British hymns in our hymnal! We’re looking forward to starting Mr. Pipes and Psalms and Hymns of the Reformation this week, and it’s especially timely as Reformation Day is quickly approaching!

Turkey and Bunny really only had one new concept in math last week, which I have to admit, was a bit of a relief to me. They started working with inequalities, which for the most part, isn’t too different from equations, unless a negative variable is involved. Ladybug has been working on identifying some new polygons in her math, as well as reviewing simple equations.

In history, we’ve been learning about Japan in the 1500s. We read about Oda Nobunaga and the unification of Japan. We also learned about Samurai, which Turkey was very excited about. This also fit in very nicely with the Japanese folktales we’ve been reading on Fridays, too…it’s always nice when different subjects come together!

Turkey and Bunny have almost finished their first module in science. Sadly, they had no experiments last week, but they did get to learn about the discoveries of more scientists throughout history, which is interesting. Ladybug has been learning about using field guides and the different ways of identifying birds in her science course.

I’m hoping this week is a little less crazy than last week was, but that’s probably just wishful thinking!
