In some ways, we’re now 1/4 of the way done with the school year!

We only have a few lessons left in One Christ, Many Creeds. We have made our way through all the major Anabaptist denominations, and have moved on to some of the newer denominations such as the UCC and the ELCA. Turkey and Bunny also picked a denomination (Turkey chose Presbyterian and Bunny chose Roman Catholic), about which to write a short history. I was very impressed with how much they have learned!

Turkey and Bunny have continued to graph equations in math. They’re now very familiar with slope-intercept form, point-slope form, and the standard form of equations. Ladybug has continued to work with money, especially in making change. Everybody did a fantastic job on their tests today, which is quite a relief to me, since we’re 1/4 of the way through our math texts!

Our history lessons have swung back to Europe, where we’ve learned about all the types of government the French went through in a short period of time. We also learned about Prussia, the German states, and the Second Reich. We have continued to study the Constitution as well, making it through the section on the Legislature.

Ladybug finished her science chapter this week. She learned about walruses, manatees, and dugongs. Chickadee “helped” by singing the “Barbara Manatee” song for us. Many times.

The sentences that Ladybug has been diagramming have gotten quite complex. She enjoys doing it, though, and thinks the complicated diagrams are pretty. I always enjoyed sentence diagramming, too, so it’s fun to work though it with her!

Next week, we’re taking a much-needed break. Turkey and Bunny have a quarterly math exam, and we’re going on a field trip to the history museum, but that’s it for school. Hopefully we’ll have some more nice, cool days like we’re had for the last few days this week…that makes being outside so much more fun!
