Lego Palace Cinema–Night Two

IMG_4717

Tonight we worked on instruction book two of the Lego Palace Cinema. As usual, we got started with the minifigs…tonight, we built the moviegoers:

IMG_4720

Since the theater seats were one of the first things built, our happy couple was seated pretty quickly.

IMG_4727

A short time later, the projector was assembled, and the overworked theater employee moved upstairs to operate it.

IMG_4729

Once the big screen was added, we were ready for some movie watching! I love the curtain details, and even though I’m not a huge fan of Lego stickers, this one looks really good.

IMG_4732

This was a pretty basic floor, with just the seats, the projector, the screen, and the stairs to the roof added to it. I think it’s probably the quickest build of a modular building floor we’ve ever done.

IMG_4735

The windows look nice, but this is the one part that bothers everyone in our house. What theater has windows?

Even with the window complaint, it’s still a great looking building…I can’t wait to add the roof and the signs, because they’re the most detailed parts, and quite beautiful!

Lego Palace Cinema–Night One

IMG_4350

It’s Lego time again! This time, we’re working on building the Palace Cinema, the latest addition to our modular Main Street. Night one of building introduced us to four minifigs: a child movie star and her chauffeur, a photographer (complete with very cool Lego camera), and an obviously overworked theater employee. We also built a cool Lego limousine.

IMG_4385

IMG_4386

The first night of building focused on the ticket and concession areas inside the theater:

IMG_4375

IMG_4378

There are also some really cool outside details, too, including a walk-up ticket window, as well as a really cool walk of fame. The printed star tiles were what made me fall in love with this set in the first place…they’re beautifully done!

I also love the Lego movie posters…very creative, and I’m pretty sure we’re living “Forever Sorting!”

It’s a very nice design so far, and I’m enjoying that it’s another corner building like the Grand Emporium.

IMG_4377

The second floor will be the actual theater room…I can’t wait to see how it comes together!

Lego Pet Shop–Night Four

Tonight was the final night for building the Lego Pet Shop!

IMG_0414

We worked on the upper floors of the Pet Shop side, which is a nice little apartment, with lots of details.

It didn’t take too long to put together.

IMG_0441

We also built a nice little roof for it:

IMG_0445

And put the whole thing on top of the store:

IMG_0447_2

It looks great side-by-side with the first half:

IMG_0448

But, to display it on our modular street, we split it in half, and I love the way it looks!

IMG_0454

I’m not sure which modular we’ll build next, or when that will be. We don’t have the Palace Cinema or the Town Hall yet, and since the Town Hall is the older of the two, that should be our next purchase. I like the Palace Cinema better (actually, I really love it, because it’s got such a unique look!), however, so whenever we have the money for it, that may be the next set we get!

Lego Pet Shop–Night Three

Tonight, we finally got back to work on the Lego Pet Shop!

IMG_0355

The second instruction book contains the Pet Shop half of the building. That means people and animals!

IMG_0363

I especially love the fish tank:

And the cat trying to chase the mouse:

IMG_0365

The way the “Pets” sign came together is genius!

IMG_0380

There are lots of great details:

Even half done, it looks nice:

IMG_0393

And even better joined with the other half of the building!

IMG_0409

Just one more night, and we’ll be done!

Lego Pet Shop–Night Two

Tonight, we finished the first half and the first instruction book of the Lego Pet Shop building (which happens to be the residential half):

IMG_9349

IMG_9363_2

We also added a minifig…this time, a painter:

IMG_9352

IMG_9350

The spiral staircase continued to wind its way up…I love it!

IMG_9353

And, there were even more details, including a rooftop garden!

This continues to be a fun build, and I’m loving the split model more and more every day!

Lego Pet Shop–Night One

Tonight we got started on my Lego birthday present for the year…the Lego Pet Shop.

IMG_9205

This set has two instructions books, and they’re each divided into two sections. I imagine we’ll use the natural breaks to make this a four night project. Night one introduced us to one minifig:

IMG_9222

One of the first things we got to do was build a little flower bed under what would later become a nice bay window:

IMG_9209

This set is different from all of the other modular buildings, in that it is built in side-by-side halves. I really like this model, and hope Lego might do some other sets like this in the future…it looks so nice, and it mixes up the display options!

IMG_9220

There’s a Lego bathroom, which is endlessly amusing, and an interesting micro build:

IMG_9215

The spiral staircase may be my favorite detail so far:

IMG_9224

But there are lot of other cool details, too, including a trap door!

This was only the bottom portion of one half of the building…I can’t wait to add to it!

Lego Parisian Restaurant–Night Four

Tonight we completed the third and final instruction book for the Parisian Restaurant!

IMG_7011

IMG_7072

The third floor of the restaurant is the artist’s studio, complete with skylights. It has paints (and an adorable Lego paintbrush), and an easel, two works of art, and a really cool kiln. The kiln shares the chimney with the fireplace on the second flood, and I really like the way it turned out:

The outside details were, of course, very nice, and very detailed:

The final product is amazing, from all sides:

IMG_7033_2

IMG_7044

And, joined together with the Grand Emporium, we have a real start to our modular street:

IMG_7059

This is a beautiful set, and it was really fun to build. Next up, we’ll be working on my (early) birthday present…the Lego Pet Shop. Not sure when we’ll get started on it, but I’m really excited about that set, because of the way it splits down the middle…it will give our modular street a whole new look!

Lego Parisian Restaurant–Night Three

Tonight, we worked on book two of the Parisian Restaurant.

IMG_6873

The second floor includes a restaurant patio:

IMG_6874

But the main feature is the upstairs apartment, which is awesome from the Murphy bed to the fireplace, and everything in between!

The back is very detailed:

IMG_6894

But when you put it together with the lower level, it’s even better!

IMG_6896

That’s nothing, however, compared to the full (so far) front facade:

IMG_6895

Only one more book to go, and then we’ll see how it really looks next to the Grand Emporium…we’re having so much fun!

Lego Parisian Restaurant–Night Two

We finished book one of the Parisian Restaurant tonight!

IMG_6759

Two more minifigs were added to the cast of characters, and they’re important–the chef and the waiter:

IMG_6760

The restaurant has a name, now!

IMG_6790

I love the completed kitchen, especially the refrigerator:

IMG_6769

We added tons of details, including furniture, curtains, and artwork:

The pillars out front were an interesting build, and look so cool:

IMG_6782_2

And I really love the menu board by the front door!

IMG_6792

There’s even a dumpster out back now, and a mouse very interested in the cheese that has been thrown out (I can’t help but think we might be building the restaurant from Ratatouille!).

IMG_6788

The staircase leading to the upstairs was added as well…can’t wait to see where it goes!

IMG_6789

This has been a fun build so far, and it looks really pretty with the unusual olive green bricks. I love a fun Lego project!

Lego Parisian Restaurant–Night One

We’ve had the Lego Parisian Restaurant since I gave it to Ryan for his birthday FIVE MONTHS AGO, but we just now started building it. There are three books, but the first one breaks in the middle, so this should be a four-night build for us.

IMG_6716

We got started with the first three minifigs:

IMG_6720

It doesn’t look like we accomplished much because the walls didn’t go up, but there are tons of details in the flooring (notice the “Chez” written in tile), and the kitchen!

Even without walls, the main dining area is recognizable. I really love the table lamps and the greenery!

This is another beautiful set, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of it comes together!
