Literally!
We are very fortunate to have a friend who is not only involved in our children’s lives, but is also interested in their education. He very kindly gifted our school with a microscope that we’d been thinking about getting for a long time, and today, the children and I spent a good half of our school day playing with our new “toy.”
Along with the microscope, he also gave us some prepared slides and a thing (I’m real technical, I know), that allows the microscope to be hooked up to a computer, so that all of the children can look at a slide at the same time, without having to jockey for position at the eyepiece. This also means that I can share some screenshots of the things we observed!
Some of the slides looked just like you would have expected, like a mantis leg…
And a feather:
Others were a bit more mysterious, especially things of a plant nature:
And, of course, there was everybody’s favorite, the dog olfactory membrane!
I’m looking forward to all of the things we’ll be studying in great detail in the years to come!
What a fantastic gift!
It was both totally awesome, and completely unexpected…and the unexpected just added to the awesome factor! We are truly blessed! 🙂
You’re really lucky 🙂 I’m sure the kids will have a wonderful time examining everything under the microscope.
