Banking on Books

Yesterday was a Very Exciting Day in Belleville, because Belleville Books on Main Street celebrated their grand opening, and we were there for it! I’m so excited that an independent bookstore is the newest small business downtown!!!

I have been looking forward to this for months. It’s been quite a wait…originally, they had planned to open in May, and while I was skeptical about it happening that quickly, I was hoping maybe they would open over the summer. Better late than never, though!

The building previously housed a bank, and the bookshop is using the old vault to display one of their most valuable (in my opinion) collections…history books!

It’s really cool to get to see the old vault door up close…it’s so detailed!

It is the most charming space!

It was super-crowded yesterday, so we just looked around a bit, but I’m already anticipating going back in the future. They already have some book signings planned, and in addition to new books, they have a huge collection of used books, and even some rare volumes for sale, and I can’t wait to see what all of those selections include!
