Mani Monday

Easing my way into the green and red of the Christmas season with a subtle (???) nod to the most wonderful time of the year featuring Holo Taco’s “Bring Me the Teal” and “Devil’s Advocate” with a sparkly top coat of “Disco Dust Taco.”

Mani Monday

I wanted to do a mani that showcased all four of the different Holo Taco topcoats I have, but finding a color that would highlight all of them was a bit of a challenge. I finally settled on “Sugar Rush” which is an off-white, topped with “Cracked Taco Shell,” “Silver Flake Taco,” “Disco Dust Taco,” and “Freezer Burn.” You can see only the slightest difference between the “Freezer Burn” on my ring finger, and the “Sugar Rush” topped only with a clear topcoat on my pinkie, but if you look really hard, it’s there!

Wicked comes out this month! In honor of the occasion, I have a second Wicked-themed mani, using the same color scheme as the first, but with the addition of Holo Taco “Cracked Taco Shell” over “Life in Plastic” and “Green Taffy.”

Mani Monday

This week’s mani is inspired by the movie Wicked. I haven’t read the book in I-don’t-know-how-many years, but I guess reading The Wizard of Oz in school, and doing lots of Oz-themed cooking has me interested in seeing the film when it comes out! I used Holo Taco “Life in Plastic” for Glinda’s trademark pink and “Green Taffy” for Elphaba’s signature green.

I’m so excited to finally have a crackle nail polish! I used Holo Taco “Cracked Taco Shell” over two of the brightest colors I have…the purple “Anti-Hero” and the yellow-green “Hi-Def.” I love the way it looks, and I think I even did a pretty good job for my first time applying it…next time I use it, though, I’m definitely going to try to get an even thinner coat!

This week’s mani is inspired by the squiggly green vines and orange pumpkins from our backyard pumpkin patch. I used Holo Taco’s “Orange Drink” along with “Green Taffy” to create the look. To make the vines as thin as possible, I applied them with a toothpick, which worked pretty well, but I would like to learn how to make even thinner decorations in the future!

I’m so excited about the oxblood shade, “Devil’s Advocate,” from Holo Taco’s new Dark Academia collection. I’ve been wanting a red so dark it’s almost black, and this is perfect. I added a coat of “Freezer Burn” (blue iridescent shimmer) to my middle fingernail, and “Disco Dust” (multi-colored glitter) to my ring fingernail, just to see how they would look, and I wasn’t disappointed!

The first day of autumn is less than a week away, and I am ready for it! This week’s mani features fall shades with Holo Taco’s “Crimson Void,” “Burnt Bridges,” and “Amber Apathy,” with the first two colors repeated on my ring and pinkie fingernails.
