Originally known as Fellner-Ratheim Dry Goods, Fellner’s Department Store was a staple on Belleville’s Main Street until 1979. The full store was built in parts…sadly, some of the buildings were destroyed in a fire just a few years ago. The main building, which carried the Fellner’s name, however, still stands, and you can glimpse its 1950s charm still today.
I grew up in this store, as did my sister and brother since my dad was running it then. His mother was a Fellner.
It makes me so sad that they painted over the beautiful tile outside, but I’m glad I got pictures of what it used to look like!
