It’s hard to believe, but it’s been almost two years since we last visited the St. Louis Zoo. This was mostly due to the fact that the penguin exhibit was temporarily closed, and that’s one of our favorite parts of the zoo. It’s open again now, so we decided to go for a visit.
We started with a ride on the Conservation Carousel, while it was still in its free hour. Chickadee loved it!
We spent some time hiding from the rain and watching the pelicans…they are weird birds!
Moose was most excited about seeing the sea-lion exhibit. It’s so much fun to walk through the tunnel, and watch them swim over you!
We walked through the Jungle of the Apes, and spent a long time watching the orangutans. We even got a peek at one of the newest zoo babies, Ginger!
The Bird House is place I don’t remember having gone in before, and it was fun seeing (and hearing!), all of the birds. We also enjoyed seeing a pair of mallard ducks outside the door, pecking at it and trying to get in!
As much fun as all of that was, the real highlight of the trip was visiting the penguins. It’s so much fun to watch them…I think Turkey could have stayed there all day!
It was a chilly, occasionally windy morning, but we still had a great time!
