I thought I’d share some of the things our family has read so far this summer, or is currently reading, or will read soon, either on our own, or together.

• American Girl Books–Bunny has read through Felicity’s, Josefina’s, Kirsten’s, Kit’s, Molly’s, and Samantha’s stories, including the friend stories where applicable, but none of the mysteries, yet–all in less than a week, too. Not a week each–a week total. She scares me sometimes.
• Anything by Beverly Cleary (Especially Ramona and Henry Huggins, although they’ve enjoyed most of the single titles as well)–These are favorites of the whole family, and either Turkey or Bunny always seems to be reading something by her, in addition the family read-alouds we’ve done.
• Childhood of Famous Americans Series–Turkey and Bunny also both love these. Turkey’s favorites are the biographies of baseball players; Bunny likes any story that focuses on a girl.
• The Boxcar Children Series
• The Wayside School Series
• Mrs. Piggle Wiggle (and the sequels)
• The Year of Miss Agnes
• James and the Giant Peach
• The Complete Adventures of Charlie and Mr. Willy Wonka
• Greek Myths for Young Children
• The Story of Doctor Dolittle
• Three Tales of My Father’s Dragon
• All of Paul Maier’s Children’s Books
• Liberty Porter, First Daughter
• The Real Thief
• Charlotte’s Web

• The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Royal Britain–I picked this one up on the clearance rack at Barnes and Noble right after the royal wedding, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a great overview of the British Monarchy, plus a great look into all of the historic royal properties.

As you can see, our interests are very diverse. In short, there’s just not much we don’t read!
