The Final Teenager
Nine years (plus a few days) after celebrating our family’s first teenager, we are now celebrating our last…today is Chickadee’s 13th birthday! We had a fun day opening presents, watching movies, and celebrating the birthday girl!
For lunch, I made Chickadee’s favorite roast beef sandwiches, and we also had taro milk tea with boba:

Chickadee was really hoping our cherry tree would bloom in time for her birthday, and while it’s not at peak bloom quite yet, it has enough flowers to make her happy!

She requested taquitos for her birthday dinner, which is not something I actually know how to make from scratch, but fortunately she likes the frozen ones from the store! I also made “Midnight Magic Punch” from Entertaining with Disney.

And for dessert, a Funfetti cookie cake:
I’ll leave you with this quote from Fuller House, which is just as true today as it was when I shared it nine years ago, with the added knowledge that this really is the baby of the family we’re celebrating this time around:
“I can’t believe my baby is officially a teenager…everything is going to change…I’m the mother of a teenager!”

Cherry Blossom Season
I really love the cherry blossom event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I still don’t like how they handle obtaining the recipes for the special furniture (I’m tired of hunting down balloons!), but I love the pink trees, floating blossoms, and of course the elusive special furniture items. While I didn’t get every recipe for every item, between everyone in the house that plays the game and myself I was able to get all of the items I wanted for my cherry blossom viewing area, including the pond stone, lantern, bonsai, and branches:
This has been one of my favorite events in the game, and I felt less pressure the second time around because I knew what to expect (and what not to get my hopes up about!), which made it even more fun!
Evening Cherry Blossoms
Maybe it’s just because I’m missing the cherry blossoms at the Missouri Botanical Garden, but I’m really enjoying the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp cherry blossom event!

Cherry Blossom Season
I love cherry blossom season in Animal Crossing, and I especially love it in Pocket Camp this year, because it allowed me to take a picture of my favorite penguins, Roald and Aurora!
