Sartorial Saturday–Ethereal Evenstar

Today I’m taking a look at something pretty different for me…a velvet bell-sleeved dress in the most beautiful bluish-purple shade from Her Universe inspired by my favorite costume worn by Arwen in The Lord of the Rings!

I have had my eye on this dress FOREVER, but even when it went on sale, I wasn’t going to buy it Ladybug was ordering a different bell-sleeved dress inspired by Arwen however, and encouraged me to get this so we could each have a dress inspired by our current favorite movie series. It’s such a beautiful dress, I didn’t take much convincing!

For my first wearing of the dress, Bunny chose my accessories, including a floral crown and necklace (which is actually hers) from Rare Dirndl, and also a pair of twisted metal hoop earrings that came from her collection. She said they were the perfect accessories for an Elf!

She also added my ankle boots from Lane Bryant:

I love the drama of a bell sleeve!

The attention to detail is outstanding…I love the Evenstar embroidery on the sleeve, and the silver embroidery around the layered neckline.

Honestly, the only thing I would change about this dress is the skirt…I wish it was a few inches longer, and just a bit fuller, but I like the look so much I don’t really even mind that it’s lacking those details!

I hope Her Universe makes more pieces inspired by Arwen, because she has some of the most amazing costuming in Hollywood, even after all these years!

Sartorial Saturday–Pink & Green

Wicked for Good just came out, and since it’s all the rage right now, I decided to style an outfit in the iconic duo of pink and green that’s so famous in the franchise!

The Clarisse-Gia blouse, Terentia-Paz vest, and Lucile-Paz trumpet skirt are all from the most recent Miss Candyfloss collection, and were actually styled together on their website. Honestly, I wouldn’t have thought of pairing these pieces on my own, so I’m grateful for the recommendation!

I kept my accessories pink and green, too, including an Erstwilder gingko leaf brooch and stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles. I also added my Erstwilder The Wizard of Oz “The Good Witch’s Crown” earrings, which are perfect for the occasion!

I love the way my ankle boots, which are just a few shades darker than the suit separates, anchor the outfit!

It’s so much fun to come up with an outfit idea inspired by something from pop culture!

Sartorial Saturday–A Pokémon Bound

I couldn’t let our “Pokémon Summer” go by without coming up with a look appropriate for the theme, so I decided to do a “Pikachu Bound” featuring the cheerful yellow Harriet-Naia dress from Miss Candyfloss.

I had to think about the accessories that best match Pikachu’s energy and color scheme…in the end, I went with a little black (gloves and Splendette beads), a little brown (hat and ankle boots), plus some red accents for Pikachu’s cheeks (Splendette Duchess Bangles), and a heart brooch to mimic the tail on a female Pikachu with a pair of lightning bolt earrings borrowed from Bunny:

I even went with a double stack of bangles, which is not something usually do:

The earrings are probably the best part of the look!

I always love a happy yellow look, but this one was extra fun to wear!

This was an entertaining addition to our summer of Pokémon!

Sartorial Saturday–Tiki Mouse

Summer time is tiki time! I’m really loving all the tiki-themed prints Her Universe has right now, including this adorable retro Minnie Mouse tiki dress!

It’s such a fun print for summer!

I added predominantly red accessories, including Splendette beads and Duchess Bangles, an Erstwilder brooch, and my Disney Store Minnie Mouse hoop earrings:

I love the grey collar and belt on the dress:

In addition to the traditional tiki motifs, the print also has palm trees and Minnie Mouse doing the hula…very tropical!

I love that I can accessorize with a completely different color palette in the future, because anything will go with this beautiful dress!

There’s also a coordinating Mickey Mouse button-down shirt, which has a similar print in grey, plus some pops of color with bold red flowers…it’s perfect for a matching look!

Sartorial Saturday–A Cap-Sleeve Blouse for Warmer Weather

Today I’m very excited to share my first purchase from Miss Candyfloss’ newest collection, Chérie Bardot (named for and inspired by 50s/60s French icon Brigitte Bardot)! As soon as I saw the Acosta-Lee cap-sleeve blouse, I knew it was a perfect match for the Donna-Sable palazzo pants from last year’s spring/summer collection, and I wasn’t disappointed…they look like they were made for each other!

I accessorized with my Elizabeth Claire Taylor hoop earrings, an Erstwilder brooch, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles (plus a beaded bracelet made by Ladybug that looks lovely with the blouse), and my favorite hat:

I love how light and breezy the blue and yellow tartan is…perfect for spring!

And I absolutely adore the stand-up collar and square neckline!

I also styled it untucked, which is a new way for me to wear a Miss Candyfloss blouse (even though they style their blouses that way frequently). I still think I like the more polished, tucked-in look better, but it’s nice to have options, and this is a fun, relaxed look!

I have a few more pieces from this collection I’m hoping to buy when they’re released…stay tuned!

Sartorial Saturday–InVESTed

Last week, I took a look at my newest wide-leg pants from Miss Candyfloss…today it’s all about the coordinating Terentia-Bo vest!

This is my first vest, and I really love the way it looks. It goes great with the matching pants (of course!), but I also really like it as a contrast to these pants, especially with an orange bishop-sleeve blouse to tie the look together:

I accessorized with a stack of glittery Splendette Duchess Bangles, an Erstwilder brooch, and a whimsical pair of turkey earrings by SUGARFIX by Baublebar I found at Target:

I absolutely love a Miss Candyfloss peplum!

This is such a smart look!

Stay tuned for a look at the full vest/pants suit!

Earring Stack

It’s been a while since I shared my earring stack…maybe even since I had the additional piercings done back in (dare I say it?) early 2020. I finally have the five central earrings the way I had envisioned back then, representing the birthstones of my children…from the second to the top on down, March, July, November, May, and back to March.

Sartorial Saturday–A Floral Dress for Autumn

I love looking through the new Miss Candyfloss lookbook at the beginning of each season…multiple times. I highlight all of the pieces that catch my eye, and then go back through and whittle down my wishlist until I have something reasonable and attainable. But every once in a while, Miss Candyfloss will have a surprise release of an item that wasn’t in the look book that causes me to go back and cut my wishlist down further to make room for something else. The Hasia-Lee floral swing dress is one of those items:

I am absolutely in love with this gorgeous knit dress! It’s made from a cozy, warm fabric in an unexpected-for-autumn color palette of blue, purple, and green. Of course it has pockets, and also a skirt that TWIRLS!

I accessorized with my Elizabeth Claire Taylor silver hoop earrings, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, a Meteor Jewelry Starlite necklace, and a pair of Erstwilder brooches, plus a navy hat and grey gloves:

Here’s a closer look at my brooch pairing…I guess they match too well, because they kind of disappear against the fabric!

I think the floral print is a bit unexpected for this time of year, too, and I really love that!

I especially like that the dress has 3/4 sleeves, so if I want to pair it with a cardigan in the winter, I won’t feel like I’m smothering.

It’s such a pretty print in such lovely colors!

I wonder if Miss Candyfloss will have another other surprises this season?

Sartorial Saturday–The Trumpet Skirt

Not only am I featuring my first purchase from the new Miss Candyfloss “Vintage GlamIcons” autumn/winter collection, it’s also the number one item from my wishlist…the Gillian-Kat trumpet skirt! This is a very different look for me, but as soon as I saw it in the lookbook, I knew I wanted to give it a try. For its first outing, I paired it with a beautiful purple ruffled Frenchie top from Unique Vintage…I love these colors together, and while I did order a blouse from Miss Candyfloss to wear with the skirt, it’s just not quite cool enough for long sleeves yet.

I love how saturated the lovely teal color is, and the material of the skirt is surprisingly soft with just the right amount of stretch.

I accessorized with a teal and purple stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, my Elizabeth Claire Taylor hoop earrings, and an Erstwilder brooch that is a little greener than I would have preferred, plus my favorite hat and matching gloves.

One of my favorite details about the skirt is the series of pleats in the back. Not only do they allow for full movement, they also look really cool!

I love the bold, bright colors of this outfit, and I’m really glad I took the chance on trying a very different style!

There are a few other blouses in the Miss Candyfloss lookbook that I think will look fantastic with this skirt…I hope I have the chance to add them to my wardrobe soon!

Sartorial Saturday–A Tartan Blouse

Time for a look at one last piece from the Miss Candyfloss “Viva Rita” collection! I don’t have a lot of tops, so I decided to add the Efrona-Lee tartan bishop-sleeve blouse to my wardrobe. It has the same button front and bustline that I love in so many of my Miss Candyfloss dresses and jumpsuits, and is beautiful in blue, white, and grey.

For my first wearing, I paired it with the Idalia-Lee skort, also from the “Viva Rita” collection. I’m looking forward to wearing it with the Donna-Sable palazzo pants, too!

I accessorized in blues and greys as well. I borrowed brooches from two of my daughters, both from the Erstwilder Paris Holiday collection. I also added a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, plus my Elizabeth Claire Taylor hoop earrings, light grey gloves, and my favorite tan hat.

This is a great blouse for the warmer months, and will transition well into fall, too!

Even thought it doesn’t have short sleeves, it’s still a pretty breezy top for summer!

I’m already looking forward to seeing what surprises the autumn/winter collection has in store!
