Sartorial Saturday–Plaid Plus a Trumpet Skirt

The Miss Candyfloss spring/summer 2025 pieces are starting to trickle in, but I have one more pairing from last year’s autumn/winter collection that has the perfect, bold, unexpected, color scheme for Mary Blair March!

I originally bought the Gillian-Kat trumpet skirt and Melinga-Kat bishop-sleeve blouse with the intention of wearing them together (along with a vest that sold out in my size before I could get it), but I ended up pairing each of them with other pieces in my wardrobe before I put them together!

Because it’s such a bold look, I kept my accessories, a star brooch from Erstwilder and a pair of Splendette Duchess Bangles, simple:

I love the bright colors of this outfit, and the combination of of mustard and teal is right out of Mary Blair’s style book!

Even though these are fall pieces, I think that between the lightweight material and color palette, it works well for early spring!

I’m looking forward to sharing a look from the new collection soon!

Sartorial Saturday–In Mint Condition

You’ve already seen the gorgeous Gillian-Kat trumpet skirt from Miss Candyfloss…now it’s time to take a look at the lovely Arien-Minty bishop-sleeve blouse in the most stunning shade of mint!

I really love the dramatic effect of the flowing sleeves and wide cuffs:

I leaned into the color scheme with my accessories, featuring a fascinator just a slightly lighter shade of mint than the blouse, plus a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles and the perfect Erstwilder brooch to complete the look!

The colors really pop in direct sunlight!

The more muted look in the shadows is nice, too:

I love how elegant this whole outfit is!

I also especially like the square neckline…it frames the look so well!

Stay tuned for another look at a different styling of this blouse!

Sartorial Saturday–The Trumpet Skirt

Not only am I featuring my first purchase from the new Miss Candyfloss “Vintage GlamIcons” autumn/winter collection, it’s also the number one item from my wishlist…the Gillian-Kat trumpet skirt! This is a very different look for me, but as soon as I saw it in the lookbook, I knew I wanted to give it a try. For its first outing, I paired it with a beautiful purple ruffled Frenchie top from Unique Vintage…I love these colors together, and while I did order a blouse from Miss Candyfloss to wear with the skirt, it’s just not quite cool enough for long sleeves yet.

I love how saturated the lovely teal color is, and the material of the skirt is surprisingly soft with just the right amount of stretch.

I accessorized with a teal and purple stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, my Elizabeth Claire Taylor hoop earrings, and an Erstwilder brooch that is a little greener than I would have preferred, plus my favorite hat and matching gloves.

One of my favorite details about the skirt is the series of pleats in the back. Not only do they allow for full movement, they also look really cool!

I love the bold, bright colors of this outfit, and I’m really glad I took the chance on trying a very different style!

There are a few other blouses in the Miss Candyfloss lookbook that I think will look fantastic with this skirt…I hope I have the chance to add them to my wardrobe soon!
