Sartorial Saturday–A Sheer Floral Blouse for Spring

I don’t have a lot of blouses in my wardrobe (mainly because I primarily wear dresses, not skirts), and the few I do have are more suitable for autumn and winter. When I saw the new Cleona-Floria sheer floral blouse from Miss Candyfloss, I knew it would be the perfect spring addition to by closet. For its first outing, I paired it with last season’s Cressida-Lee skirt, and they really look like they were meant to go together!

Don’t let the word sheer frighten you…only the sleeves are truly sheer…the body of the blouse is more substantial than you’d think.

I accessorized with an Erstwilder Pysanka egg brooch, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and silver hoop earrings:

I love how light and lovely this look is, and the blouse is so breezy, it will be perfect for the warmer summer months!

I’m looking forward to wearing the blouse with a pair of palazzo pants perfect for spring next…stay tuned!

Sartorial Saturday–Coronation Ready

It’s Coronation Day!

I guess my invitation was lost in the mail (ha, ha, ha), but that didn’t stop me from planning a very special outfit for the occasion…I even added my wedding tiara to complete the look that features the Miss Candyfloss Sacnite-Lee dressing gown I picked up last spring with the Platinum Jubilee in mind:

The tiara is the main accessory, but I also added my favorite pearls (of course!), crown earrings from Erstwilder, a pair of glittery Duchess bangles from Splendette, and the Royal Collection replica brooch I always pull out for events featuring the British monarchy:

My daughters also think that this would be the perfect Disney Bound of Queen Elsa, and they’re not wrong!

I also added my most sparkly shoes, for a regal look from head to toe!

I love that if I try hard enough (and am creative enough), I can pull together an outfit for any occasion from what I already have in my closet!

Sartorial Saturday–Disney Chic

The best souvenirs of a trip are the ones you can wear, and I picked up a whole outfit’s worth before and during our trip to Walt Disney World!

Just as I did with my Kyber Crystal necklace, I decided to order this beautiful Disney World 50th Anniversary dress before we left for our trip. I didn’t know for sure if I would actually bring it with (spoilers…I did!), but I knew I wanted to have it as a wearable memory. Lucky for me, the Disney Dress Shop dresses tend to have a retro feel, and this shirtwaist dress definitely fits my personal style!

The print is beautiful, featuring the castle and fireworks in the anniversary color scheme, as well as embroidered 50s scattered throughout.

While we were at the Magic Kingdom, I picked up a Loungefly mini backpack that matches the Minnie Mouse ears I found at the same shop (the Emporium). It has the same castles, fireworks, and 50s as the dress, plus the major Disney characters (Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy, Goofy and Pluto, and Chip and Dale). A helpful store employee even found me what she called the “perfect bag,” (they’re all a little different) with a 50 right in the middle of the front pocket!

The dress also has a pretty yellow belt. I’m also wearing a silver belt underneath, because I can never tie a belt tight enough. And did I mention the pockets?!?

I’ve got a whole Disney World 50th Anniversary look!

Besides the Minnie ears, I accessorized with my Cinderella key necklace, a single gold glitter bangle, and a pair of Minnie Mouse hoop earrings that are another souvenir of the trip:

I mentioned that I brought the dress on the trip…here’s a look at my outfit right outside the castle!

I’m really glad I found these special pieces that not only commemorate our trip, but also the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World!

Sartorial Saturday–Clearance Shopping

Sometimes, you find a deal that’s just too good to pass up!

I’ve been wanting to try a pantsuit from Miss Candyfloss, but I was really worried about the fit. Knowing that their sunsuits worked for me helped a little bit, but I hadn’t been able to commit to buying one. Until I found the Mare-Minty on clearance at one of their online retailers, Boho-Chic Clothing, for only $30 (American!)!!! At that price, I really had nothing to lose!

The color scheme of this beautiful pantsuit made accessorizing lots of fun…I added a beautiful Splendette stack with matching necklace, and one of my favorite headpieces.

I also added my first-ever pair of Erstwilder earrings, from their Wizard of Oz collection:

I love how elegant this look is, and also how easy it is to wear…it’s super comfortable!

I’m so glad I was able to take a chance on this outfit. I know how their pantsuits fit now (I just need to have the hem raised a bit), and I know I like to wear them, so I don’t think this will be the only one I add to my wardrobe!

Sartorial Saturday–I Love Gingham

If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of I Love Lucy. I watch and enjoy a lot of classic TV, but I Love Lucy is my very favorite…I never get tired of it! You can imagine how excited I was, then, when I found out Unique Vintage was producing an I Love Lucy capsule collection in collaboration with ViacomCBS and Desilu!

There were a lot of fun options, but in the end, I chose the Ethel Swing Dress in black and white gingham…it’s such a classic look, and can be styled so many ways!

Did I mention that it’s designed after a dress Lucy actually wore on the show?

For this look, I decided to go with classic black and white accessories, in keeping with the theme. Midcentury starburst Duchess bangles from Splendette were an easy choice, as was a black and mirror sunburst brooch from Erstwilder. I also added my Elizabeth Claire Taylor hoops earrings (very similar to ones Lucy wore on the show!), a three-strand pearl necklace, and gloves, of course!

And just for fun, a picture in black and white:

I love this collection, and I certainly wouldn’t complain if Unique Vintage came out with a second one in the future!

Showtime, Synergy!

When I saw that Tayva at SparkleLux (my favorite purveyor of repro earrings), was making these “truly outrageous” earrings, I had to have a pair. I’ve wanted a pair of Jem earrings for so long, but the ones I’ve found in the past usually looked way too cheap and/or juvenile. These, however, are perfect:

What can I say? At heart, I’m a Jem girl!
