Sartorial Saturday–A Pokémon Bound

I couldn’t let our “Pokémon Summer” go by without coming up with a look appropriate for the theme, so I decided to do a “Pikachu Bound” featuring the cheerful yellow Harriet-Naia dress from Miss Candyfloss.

I had to think about the accessories that best match Pikachu’s energy and color scheme…in the end, I went with a little black (gloves and Splendette beads), a little brown (hat and ankle boots), plus some red accents for Pikachu’s cheeks (Splendette Duchess Bangles), and a heart brooch to mimic the tail on a female Pikachu with a pair of lightning bolt earrings borrowed from Bunny:

I even went with a double stack of bangles, which is not something usually do:

The earrings are probably the best part of the look!

I always love a happy yellow look, but this one was extra fun to wear!

This was an entertaining addition to our summer of Pokémon!

Sartorial Saturday–Disney Bounding the OG Disney Princess

Last year for Halloween, I came up with a Disney Bound inspired by the Evil Queen…this year, I’m following up with a look inspired by the original Disney princess, Snow White!

I paired the yellow Harriet-Naia dress from Miss Candyfloss with a royal blue cropped cardigan from Yemak, and added some red accessories, too:

Here’s a closer look at the accessories, including a red hair flower, a glittery red Splendette Duchess bangle and beads, and an Erstwilder bird brooch, of course…Snow White has to have a birdie nearby!

So as not to forget the Evil Queen, I added a sequined Loungefly bag in her honor:

I feel like I could frolic with Snow White and her woodland friends in this outfit!

“When you smile and you sing,
Everything is in tune and it’s spring.
And life flows along
With a smile and a song.” “With a Smile and a Song” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Sartorial Saturday–Color Styling with Cues from Nature

Stylists will often tell you to look to nature for ideas when choosing colors for outfits, so I decided to go for a color combination I’ve previously tried to avoid…black and yellow, like a bumblebee! The foundation of the look is the Miss Candyfloss Harriet-Naia dress (which I have actually paired with some black accessories in the past, but not so intentionally).

I accessorized with a black boater hat with a trio of flowers attached to it, a Splendette necklace and stack of Duchess Bangles, black lace gloves, and an Erstwilder brooch:

It’s a bold and cheerful look!

How does nature inspire you to style outfits?

Sartorial Saturday–A Striped Shirt Dress

I’m so happy I got the cheerful, sunny Harriet-Naia dress from the Miss Candyfloss “Lilibeth” collection…the color reminds me of the beautiful yellow dress Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wore to the wedding of the now Prince and Princess of Wales.

I know when you wear yellow and black together, you run the risk of looking like a bumblebee, but that didn’t stop me from going with that color palette for my hat, gloves, and Splendette Duchess bangles (plus a splash of purple with my Erstwilder brooch!):

Like the Estee-Spring dress, I wouldn’t wear this one without a petticoat because the fabric is so light and sheer, but that’s ok, because a petticoat just enhances a dress’s twirl factor!

I love how summery this look is!

I’m only waiting for one more item from this lookbook to be released, and then my small “Lilibeth” collection will be complete!
