Sartorial Saturday–French Market

I can’t remember the last time I was as excited about a print as I am about the French Market Bella skirt designed by Hope Morrison for Pinup Girl Clothing! It has carrots, garlic, and fish on it!

Actually, this is about more than just the skirt, because I really wanted to recreate the whole look that Pinup Girl Clothing featured. So while I had a typical stack of Splendette duchess bangles and an Erstilder brooch, the necklace is also from PUG…it’s absolutely gorgeous!

I also paired it with a navy hat and belt from Pinup Girl:

I love a hat!

Here’s a few bonus pictures taken outside of the Soulard Market in St. Louis…it’s (possibly) the oldest market west of the Mississippi River, and located in a historically French neighborhood…it’s the perfect setting for the skirt, don’t you think?

My one disappointment with this outfit is that I couldn’t get the Chérie ribbon peasant top to work for me. I ordered it at the same time as the skirt, and while it was my usual PUG size, I couldn’t even get it on, and by the time my order arrived, it had sold out in the next size up, so I couldn’t try a replacement. My original vision for the look might not have come together, but I do think this Unique Vintage Frenchie top is a good stand-in, and I still love the overall look!

Sartorial Saturday–My First Jenny Dress

There’s nothing like a 1960s-style sundress, right? As hard as it is to believe, though, I had never purchased a Jenny dress from Pinup Girl Clothing, even though it’s what I would call one of their signature items. The boning in the dress, which is loved by many people, scared me. But then I saw this lovely crepe version of the dress, which has no boning, and I knew I had to try it! And the color and Spanish fans print are amazing!

I can definitely see why this dress is so popular! It’s so light and easy to wear and has a great twirl factor.

I kept the accessories simple…my standard pearls, a yellow belt and Yemak cropped cardigan, a beautiful Splendette duchess bangle, my favorite penguin brooch, and gloves.

I love the colors of this look so much!

Now that I’ve tried a Jenny dress, I’d like to add more to my wardrobe…I’m still pretty reluctant to try a version with boning, though!

Sartorial Saturday–Unicorns and Pegasus

Anyone else feeling a bit whimsical?

I love this new print designed by Hope Morrison for Pinup Girl Clothing. The Unicorns and Pegasi bring just the right amount of whimsy, and the bright colors against the black background of the skirt make it so easy to accessorize. This time, I went with a bright Yemak cropped cardigan and stack of Splendette duchess bangles, but black gloves, belt, and Erstwilder brooch.

It’s the perfect outfit for transitioning to spring!

Ladybug also loves this print, and purchased the Ella dress, a style I’ve never worn, but she really likes.

Pinup Girl is also going to be offering a peasant top in this lovely shade of mint, and I’m really looking forward to getting it to wear instead of this Sabrina top as it gets warmer!
