Tonight we went to the Millstadt Community Choir’s Patriotic Concert. It was a nice way to start our Independence Day festivities. There was a good crowd in attendance, and they really got into the singing of “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

It was especially cool because several members of our church are in the choir–the children had fun searching for familiar faces in the group.

I really liked when the men from the VFW and the American Legion brought in the flags–for some reason, I found that display to be very moving. I guess the flag always chokes me up a bit.

There were fun moments and solemn moments–the perfect way to start celebrating Independence Day!
