Happy Pie Day!
We baked eight pies today. Not a record, but still a lot of pies, and our house smells like a bakery!
Caramel-apple (Bunny made this one, and it’s definitely the prettiest of the bunch!):
Pecan (Someday I’ll make a pecan pie that actually looks pretty, but until then, at least it tastes good!):
Now we just have to wait until tomorrow to dig in!
After the record
NINE pies I made last year on the day before Thanksgiving, this year’s seven pies didn’t seem like quite as much work!
We’re having our standard lineup, as follows:
This day is a lot of work, but it also makes the house smell like a bakery, so I can’t complain too much!
It took me about seven hours to make the nine pies we need for Thanksgiving this year. We’ll be enjoying caramel apple, cranberry-apple, chocolate hazelnut, pecan, s’mores, butterscotch, pumpkin, apple, and vanilla cream pie…but definitely not all at once!
As I always do the day before Thanksgiving, I spent the better part of today making pies. One for each member of the family, as is our tradition:
This year’s pie lineup:
Me–Spiced cranberry apple
Turkey–Peanut butter cup
Chickadee did actually pick her pie this year, but I think pumpkin pie is the only one she really knows by name…I hope she’s happy with her choice!
As is our tradition, I made seven pies today…one for each member of the family:
Here’s the pie lineup:
Ryan–Peanut butter cup
Me–Wassail (cranberry apple)
Technically, Chickadee still can’t choose her pie flavor, since she doesn’t really have a favorite yet, so she was assigned pumpkin. Maybe next year she’ll pick her own!
