Here’s another vintage sign from our travels on Historic Route 66 in Edwardsville, IL. The angle is terrible, because I took the picture when I was stopped at a red light, but I think the name (The Stagger Inn…Again), is hilarious, especially when you consider the one-time popularity of Stag Beer (which was produced in Belleville) in the St. Louis area. And from what I’ve been able to learn, it’s actually a play on an even older pub name, the original Stagger Inn, the oldest continuously operating bar in Edwardsville…it appears to have added the “Again” after a series of ownership changes in the 80s.
