Sartorial Saturday–Golightly

Time for another edition of “all dressed up and nowhere to go!”

I’ve wanted a Unique Vintage Golightly dress for a long time. I’ve admired various prints and patterns over the last few years, and finally was unable to resist when I saw this blue and white gingham with roses version, especially since I bought it during a major sale!

I also couldn’t resist these cat-eye sunglasses from Unique Vintage…they coordinate perfectly, as do my Splendette Duchess bangles stack and beads.

This is a great summer sundress. It’s light and airy, and the skirt has an incredible twirl. It’s the kind of dress you want to wear on a picnic or to a garden. The one drawback is that, because the fabric is so light, it is sheer, and in addition to the obvious potential for backlighting issues, in places where it’s layered with one of the roses on the inside, they kind of show through, making it look almost stained. But that’s a minor issue, and it’s such a fun dress, I can overlook it!

I’m waiting on the arrival of my second Golightly dress in an even more delightful pattern…I can’t wait to share it, too!

Sartorial Saturday–A Romp in the Sun

Time to step outside of my comfort zone!

At first glance, this is just another cheerful retro outfit from Unique Vintage. Very summery, very fun, and I love it!

And choosing accessories to go with the cherry print gingham was so much fun, from the stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles to the cat-eye sunglasses:

And then I said goodby to my comfort zone, which I left so far behind, I can’t even see it anymore. Because I wasn’t wearing a plain, simple dress…instead, it’s a romper with a matching skirt. And removing the skirt to go full retro playsuit took all of the confidence and courage I have!

I never would have thought this outfit would work on me. When I ordered it, I kind of expected I would have to return it. The only reason I decided to try it at all was that I have been looking at variations of this set for a few years, and this color and pattern really jumped out at me, and I knew I had to at least make an attempt. In the end, though, I love it, and I’m dreaming of the day I can wear it on vacation, maybe to some sunny place like Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral!
