Sartorial Saturday–Inspired by the Olympics

I love a themed outfit. Coming up with an outfit that goes with the Olympics, however, is a bit of a challenge. Until I realized that Hello Kitty is the perfect sartorial representation of Tokyo 2020!

The Hello Kitty collection from Unique Vintage isn’t really new anymore, and I missed out on the first run of this Golightly dress, my favorite style from Unique Vintage. When they replenished their stock, I was determined not to miss out on it again, especially once I realized that it did fit the Tokyo 2020 theme!

I accessorized with a Splendette stack of duchess bangles, a Meteor Jewelry necklace, a blue hair flower from Pinup Girl Clothing, and a Hello Kitty brooch from Erstwilder, of course!

Even though the dress is primarily pink, I also went with a Team USA theme of red, white and blue in the outfit:

I love finding creative ways to make my outfits fit a theme!

Sartorial Saturday–Gingham and Flowers

I love sundress season! The Golightly is my favorite style sundress from Unique Vintage (it’s the twirliest dress I own!)…I have it in three different colors, including this beautiful blue gingham accented with pink flowers. The color combination is gorgeous, don’t you think?!? I especially love it with this pink Yemak cropped cardigan:

I accessorized with a pink fascinator, a Splendette stack of duchess bangles (including some of this season’s new duotones), an emu brooch from Erstwilder, and some lace gloves from Unique Vintage (which unfortunately got a hole the first time I wore them):

I think this is a great look for spring and summer!

I love this time of year, when you can throw a cardigan on over a sundress and have a complete look without any effort!

Sartorial Saturday–Sundress Season

It’s sundress season, right?

Actually, looking at the extended forecast, I think it’s actually stay out of the sun and in the air conditioning season, but that’s really all I’ve been doing this summer anyway, so I digress…

Anyway, I looked at my first Unique Vintage Golightly dress in the spring, and now I’m back with a different print, and this time, I even removed the straps for a slightly different look!

I’m a huge fan of gingham, plus this is the world’s twirliest dress, so it’s perfect!

I’m also a huge fan of purple, and I love any reason to wear my purple Splendette Duchess bangles, even if they’re not quite the right shade to go with the dress!

I really hope that someday, I’ll get to wear this dress to a fun summer event!

Sartorial Saturday–Golightly

Time for another edition of “all dressed up and nowhere to go!”

I’ve wanted a Unique Vintage Golightly dress for a long time. I’ve admired various prints and patterns over the last few years, and finally was unable to resist when I saw this blue and white gingham with roses version, especially since I bought it during a major sale!

I also couldn’t resist these cat-eye sunglasses from Unique Vintage…they coordinate perfectly, as do my Splendette Duchess bangles stack and beads.

This is a great summer sundress. It’s light and airy, and the skirt has an incredible twirl. It’s the kind of dress you want to wear on a picnic or to a garden. The one drawback is that, because the fabric is so light, it is sheer, and in addition to the obvious potential for backlighting issues, in places where it’s layered with one of the roses on the inside, they kind of show through, making it look almost stained. But that’s a minor issue, and it’s such a fun dress, I can overlook it!

I’m waiting on the arrival of my second Golightly dress in an even more delightful pattern…I can’t wait to share it, too!
