Sartorial Saturday–A Flouncy Swimsuit

It’s been a few years since I shared a swimsuit here, but I bought a new suit at Torrid (the same store my old coverup is from) for this summer, so here we are again. I decided to create my own suit with separates from their collection…a Wireless V Flounce Bikini Top and a High-Rise Lattice Side Swim Bottom.

I have really embraced the two-piece swimsuit, so I went with that style again, but the top is very different this time…it doesn’t have an underwire, but it does have an extra layer of flounce!

I really love the color scheme and floral print of this suit:

The pictures aren’t as sharp as I would have liked, but I had to take the photos at night if I was going to take them by the pool at all, so concessions had to be made.

The high-rise bottoms have lattice sides over mesh, and I really love that little extra detail!

This is a very comfortable swimsuit to wear, and has just the right amount of coverage for me. It’s my first suit from Torrid, and I’m very happy with it, so I would definitely shop for swimwear there in the future!

Something Blue

I suppose there’s no denying that I’m a nerd, now!

I was very excited to find a dress at Torrid that combined my love of 50s style fashion with my love of Doctor Who. I even found a cool necklace (only $5!!!) on Amazon to complete the look. Wearing it always makes me think of Amy Pond’s wedding speech:

When I was a kid I had an imaginary friend. The Raggedy Doctor. My Raggedy Doctor. But he wasn’t imaginary. He was real. I remember you. I remember! I brought the others back, I can bring you home too. Raggedy Man, I remember you and you are late for my wedding! I found you. I found you with words like you knew I would. That’s why you told me the story. The brand new ancient blue box. Oh clever. Very clever. Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something blue.

It may seem a little costume-y or silly to some, but I love my Tardis dress!
