Sartorial Saturday–A Fresh Color Styling of a Custom Dirndl for Mary Blair March

Last year, I debuted my custom dirndl from Rare Dirndl just in time for Mary Blair March. This year, I’m wearing it with a lovely blue Vixen by Micheline Pitt Vacation Blouse, inspired by the bold color styling of Mary Blair herself! The dirndl was already bright and cheerful, but this extra pop of color makes it’s especially vibrant!!!

I accessorized with a an Erstwilder brooch worn as a necklace and a glittery stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, plus butterfly earrings that are perfect with the butterfly print on the skirt of the dress:

I can’t think of a better Mary Blair March look!

I have another idea for a different styling of this dirndl that I’m hoping to wear before the month is over!

Sartorial Saturday–London Calling

I can’t even remember the last time I made a post dedicated solely to brooches, but Erstwilder recently released a collection that I’ve been dreaming of for years, “London Calling,” and I couldn’t resist adding several new pieces to my wardrobe!

I (unsurprisingly) found several designs in red, including a phone box, a double decker bus, and a Mini Cooper. I also fell in love with a regal pair of swans, and a stack of books that include titles I’ve taught over the years:

And no London collection would be complete with a Tudor rose…it looks especially nice as a pendant when using the brooch converter!

I waited for this collection for so long, and I can hardly believe my good fortune that Erstwilder made most of the pieces I’ve been dreaming of!

Sartorial Saturday–Ski Season

It’s been quite a while since I added a Christmas print to my wardrobe, but when I saw this adorable “Ski Snow Season” dress at Unique Vintage, I thought maybe it was time to add another. And when they sent me a coupon for half off, I knew it was meant to be!

It’s a beautiful shirt-style dress with a fantastically full skirt, perfect for twirling!

I accessorized with three Erstwilder brooches, two of them mine, one Chickadee’s, and one worn as a necklace using the brooch converter. I also added a stack of Splendette Duchess bangles and light grey gloves.

The dress has vintage wooden buttons down the front, which is a great detail:

It’s such a lovely shade of blue!

Between the color and the print, the dress doesn’t exclusively scream “Christmas,” so I think I’ll be able to wear it throughout the winter.

I paired it with a pink Yemak cropped cardigan, but there are so many pretty colors in the dress’s print, I’m looking forward to pairing it with other shades, too!

The dress is very easy to wear…it’s already had two outings!

Only 10 days until Christmas Eve!

The Erstwilder Brooch Converter

I’ve had my eye on something at Erstwilder for while now, and it’s not a brooch…it’s a brooch converter! This clever little device slides right over the pin on the brooch, and has a loop to thread a chain through. There are both horizontal and vertical varieties, so no matter which way your brooch attaches, you can use one of the converters with it.

I love being able to wear some of my favorite brooches as necklaces!
