You know how much I like a public art project, so when we stumbled across the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s “Flight of Butterflies” exhibition on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, I was really excited. My children were, I think, a little afraid that I was going to try to find all of the butterflies, but I was satisfied to see eight (and photograph seven) of the sculptures as we walked down the Magnificent Mile. I think that’s pretty good for an art exhibit I didn’t even know about until we arrived!
It isn’t often that I have a whole outfit inspired by the animal kingdom, so here’s a look at an ensemble featuring a Mary Blair butterflies print dress from Pinup Girl Clothing, leopard print duchess bangles from Splendette, and a pair of koala brooches designed by Pete Cromer for Erstwilder:

Today we visited the Butterfly House in Chesterfield, where they’re currently hosting the Paper Kite Butterfly Festival.
We were there in the spring for the Morpho Mania festival, and this was very similar…but this time, instead of the beautiful Blue Morphos, it was beautiful black and white Paper Kites everywhere you looked!
The Butterfly House, another place I had never even stopped at before they placed a cake there last year, is part of the Missouri Botanical Garden family, and is free for members to visit. It’s a very fun place to go and enjoy a bit of nature!
