Sartorial Saturday–My Favorite Things

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things.”

The Herbology Dirndl from Rare Dirndl is my fourth dress from them, and it’s the one that most makes me feel like I’ve stepped right out of a scene in The Sound of Music. There’s something about the blue and brown dirndl combined with the plaid apron that just screams frolicking through the Alps to me!

I love the foliage print apron ties!

I also love that this particular style takes some inspiration from Professor Sprout…that makes my Hufflepuff heart happy!

I accessorized with lots of edelweiss (hair clip, earrings, and necklace), plus some beaded bracelets:

I think this will be a great look for fall!

But wait there’s more! When I placed my order, Rare Dirndl was running a special that included a bonus lace apron. According to my middle daughter, this particular pairing makes me look like Cinderella!

There’s such a lovely elegance to a lace apron.

It has the same beautiful foliage print ties as the plaid apron:

But I couldn’t just leave it at that, right? As soon as I saw the colors of the dirndl in person, I knew I had to pair it with my deer print apron from “Die Heimat” dirndl:

That, of course, meant a slight change in accessories, because a deer print apron calls for a bold Hirsch necklace!

This look is just as great as the first two…I love having the ability to mix and match aprons (I have a total of eight of them for my four dirndls).

The best thing about this dirndl is how absolutely versatile it is, and I have yet another styling in mind that I’m planning on trying out for Oktoberfest!

Sartorial Saturday–Magically Made

I’ve had the Celestina Reversible Capelet from Pinup Girl Clothing’s Magically Made collection since September, but between the broken ankle and all of my festive fashions, I haven’t really had a chance to share it…until now!

I love the shape of the cape, even from the back:

It’s easy to accessorize with my Hufflepuff pin from Universal, and my Duchess bangles from Splendette:

The best part is the fact that the caplet is reversible, so it’s really like having two pieces! Even just unbuttoning it gives the outfit a totally different look:

And completely reversing it is even more fantastic!

Just for fun, some pictures with Nymphadora Tonks’ wand..she’s my favorite Hufflepuff!

I’m so glad I was finally able to add a cape to my wardrobe, and one that makes me feel like Minerva McGonagall is even more amazing than I could have dreamed!

Sartorial Saturday–HufflePUG

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our planned trip to Universal Orlando this summer, where we hope to see all of the Harry Potter sites. This of course let me to think about my wardrobe, and my Pinup Girl Clothing Yellow House Harlequin skirt…I’m a proud HufflePUG!

I’ve even got the perfect HufflePUG accessories!

To which house do you belong?

Sartorial Saturday–Hufflepuff

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Turkey and Bunny may outnumber me with their Ravenclaw harlequins, but I’m still a proud Hufflepuff!

I also have the perfect accessories for this print, including two different (and different-toned) Splendette stacks. I’m so glad they recently released some new colors, and especially GLITTER, Duchess Bangles!

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve worn some variation of this outfit recently,,, the colors and harlequin pattern are so fun, and I love being able to share this sartorial geekery with my children!

Sartorial Saturday–House (Harlequins) Party

“‘For I’m the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There’s nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can’t see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be…
So put me on! Don’t be afraid!
And don’t get in a flap!
You’re in safe hands (though I have none)
For I’m a Thinking Cap!'”

I was going to leave well enough alone, and just get Turkey and Bunny pieces from Pinup Girl Clothing’s “House Harlequins” collection, but someone (Ryan), thought it was important that I share this experience with them. So, we can have a Harry Potter House Harlequins Party, even if am the lone Hufflepuff!
