Sartorial Saturday–Perfect Pleats

You’ve already seen the pinstriped Maryam-Lou blouse from Miss Candyfloss…now it’s time to see it paired with the coordinating Emeline-Paz skirt!

It’s a lovely and soft corduroy skirt in a dusty shade of pink:

My number one favorite detail about this skirt is the three sets of purple pleats inserted around the bottom…they give so much movement to an otherwise straight skirt!

I accessorized with a hat from Mein Wunderbarer Hutsalon, an Erstwilder brooch, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and my newest necklace from RockLove Jewelry…I love how vibrant the color of the stone is!

This look was inspired in part by Maleficent…not the animated character, or the one portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the eponymous movie, but rather the Queen of Darkness played by Kristin Bauer van Straten in Once Upon a Time. I loved her 40s-inspired style when she was in Storybrooke, and everything about this look, from the hat to the skirt (and especially the “Maleficent Malicious” necklace, which is inspired by that original Disney villain), felt like something she would wear!

I added my wine-colored ankle boots from Lane Bryant, which I think added just the right pop of color to finish off the look:

I love finding outfit inspiration from unexpected places!

Sartorial Saturday–The Sheer Sleeve Jumpsuit

Time for a look at my final purchase from the Miss Candyfloss “Exquisite” collection…the elegant Morna-Bo jumpsuit!

I didn’t realize it until the jumpsuit arrived, but the hat from Mein Wunderbarer Hutsalon that I won in the Miss Candyfloss Instagram giveaway is a perfect match for the jumpsuit! I added a pair of Splendette Duchess Bangles and an Erstwilder brooch to complete my accessories.

I love the elegant bishop sleeves, and the fact that they’re sheer makes them extra glamorous somehow:

The colors of the jumpsuit are perfect for winter (especially the lovely berry shade of the top)…I’d love to see how they stand out against a backdrop of snow (if it ever snows here this winter)!

I really enjoyed this Miss Candyfloss collection, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in store for 2024!

Back in October, I entered a Miss Candyfloss giveaway on Instagram. I enter a lot of those giveaways, though, so I didn’t think any more about it. You can imagine my surprise and excitement when, on Moose’s birthday, they notified me that I was the winner of the Morie-Abalone dress, plus a hat from Mein Wunderbarer Hutsalon!

This was extra exciting for me because I had originally considered buying this dress, but when I narrowed my wishlist down, it got cut. I can’t believe it’s mine after all!

Here’s a closer look at the lovely wool felt hat…I’m ecstatic that I now own a hat from an actual hat shop!!!

In addition to the hat, I accessorized with an Erstwilder brooch and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles:

The bodice of the dress is fully lined, which is nice because wool can be kind of scratchy.

Here’s a closer look at the lovely cuff detail on the sleeve:

Between the warm fabric and the full-length sleeves, this is the perfect dress for late autumn/winter!

I’m beyond thrilled that I won something that I wanted to add to my wardrobe in the first place!
