Sartorial Saturday–For All the Marbles

The first thing that caught my eye in the Miss Candyfloss “Legendary Liz” collection was the beautiful and colorful marble print Dorothy-Pia dress (and jumpsuit in the same fabric). It’s so different from their usual prints that I knew it was a must-have item!

There are so many accessories that could go with this dress because of all of the colors in the print, but this time I went with a lot of purple, including a pillbox hat from Vixen by Micheline Pitt, beads and Duchess Bangles from Splendette, and a “Spiffy the Sausage Dog” brooch from Erstwilder.

I love how swirly the print is!

And the fabric of the dress is so light and flowy that’s it’s twirly, too!

The dress also features one of my favorite Miss Candyfloss design elements…a row of buttons all the way down the front:

The Dorothy-Pia is everything I hoped it would be!

I have just two more dresses to share from this lovely collection…stay tuned!

Sartorial Saturday–Sunset Swing

Just over a year ago, I ordered my first Vixen by Micheline Pitt Maneater swing dress in a beautiful blue, and I thought it couldn’t get any better than that. Until I saw the new sunset purple version and I realized that there could, in fact, be an even better color for the dress (and for me)!

I love the combination of the purple dress and the teal Yemak cropped cardigan:

I accessorized with Splendette duchess bangles and necklace, an Erstwilder brooch, and black lace gloves and pillbox hat:

It’s such a bold, bright outfit!

I’m so glad this dress is available in purple, but I kind of hope that there aren’t any other amazing colors in the future, because I think I’m running out of room in my closet!

Sartorial Saturday–Inspired by Jackie O.

When I think of American fashion icons, Jackie O. immediately comes to mind. And when I think of Jackie O. the first thing I think of is her signature pillbox hats. This is a look I’ve wanted to try for a long time, but was concerned wouldn’t work for me…a lot of hats don’t really fit my somewhat large head. But when I saw this beautiful lace-covered hat on clearance on Unique Vintage’s website, I figured I didn’t really have anything to lose since the price was right.

As it turns out, I had nothing to worry about, at leas with this particular hat. It fits just fine, and the attached elastic helps it stay in place (although when I wore it last Sunday, I was a little worried that the elastic wouldn’t stand up to the strong wind gusts we were having, so I made sure to keep a hand on it when I was outside).

I love this hat at much as I expected I would, and it makes me want to find more versions of this classic style to add to my wardrobe!
