Sartorial Saturday–A Fresh Color Styling of a Custom Dirndl for Mary Blair March

Last year, I debuted my custom dirndl from Rare Dirndl just in time for Mary Blair March. This year, I’m wearing it with a lovely blue Vixen by Micheline Pitt Vacation Blouse, inspired by the bold color styling of Mary Blair herself! The dirndl was already bright and cheerful, but this extra pop of color makes it’s especially vibrant!!!

I accessorized with a an Erstwilder brooch worn as a necklace and a glittery stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, plus butterfly earrings that are perfect with the butterfly print on the skirt of the dress:

I can’t think of a better Mary Blair March look!

I have another idea for a different styling of this dirndl that I’m hoping to wear before the month is over!

Sartorial Saturday–Disney Bounding Rapunzel

I still haven’t done a lot of Disney Bounds, but I’m especially proud of this one I created for the Disney Princess who has the style I most admire…Rapunzel, and just in time for Halloween, too!

I used my purple dirndl dress from Rare Dirndl as the base of the look, and added a beautiful pink embroidered rosette apron and pink lacing ribbon, and a purple vacation blouse from Vixen by Micheline Pitt.

I accessorized with a flower crown and floral necklace (of course!), and a pair of Splendette glitter bangles in Rapunzel’s signature colors of pink and purple:

And I added a Loungefly crossbody bag themed for Tangled to complete the look:

I love that I was able to find so many floral elements for this Disney Bound!

I might not have Rapunzel’s hair, but I think I captured the spirit of her style!

Sartorial Saturday–My First Disney Bound

Are you familiar with “Disney Bounding,” a way to dress up like your favorite Disney characters without wearing an actual costume? There’s even a Disney Bound challenge coming up in March, starting with Bounding as your favorite Disney character on the first. I’ve never attempted a Disney Bound before, but I realized my purple vacation blouse from Vixen by Micheline Pitt is perfect for Daisy Duck’s style, and an idea was born!

I paired the top with a skirt I picked up on clearance at Old Navy for only $5 (worn over a pair of bike shorts I already owned, because the skirt is pretty sheer), and pink Crocs sandals.

I accessorized with a mini backpack from the Loungefly Princess Sequin line. The bag represents Rapunzel, but it also happens to be in Daisy’s colors of pink and purple, and even has a bow!

Further accessories include Minnie ears that feature a pink bow à la Daisy Duck and a blue glitter Splendette duchess bangle just like Daisy wears!

I think I captured the essence of my favorite Disney Duck pretty well!

What a fun way to combine fashion and Disney!

Who is your favorite Disney character?

Sartorial Saturday–Vacation Dreams

Last month, I took a look at my Micheline Pitt floral swing skirt, and along with it, the vacation blouse. Today I thought I’d take a look at the blouse in all three colors I own…I may not be able to go on a vacation right now, but I can dream about sightseeing in this gorgeous blouse!

I love this top. The cut is perfect, and the fact that it doesn’t have short (or tight!) sleeves makes me really happy. It’s not too hot to wear, although I do think I’ll enjoy it even more once we have more fall-like weather. And the colors are gorgeous…the saturation is outstanding. All three tops go with the floral print skirt…as well as many other things in my wardrobe. I will definitely be on the lookout for more vacation blouse options in the future, because this top has already become a staple in my wardrobe!

Sartorial Saturday–A Floral Affair

Normally, I prefer nice, stiff cotton skirts. But when I saw this Vixen by Micheline Pitt swing skirt with an original 1950s floral print, I knew I’d have to make an exception. And as long as I was making an exception, I decided to try out the vacation blouse, as well!

Both pieces have a nice weight, and you don’t have to worry about wrinkling thanks to the fabric!

Aren’t the colors fantastic?!?

I accessorized with Splendette Duchess bangles (of course!), and a gingko leaf brooch from the Erstwilder Art Nouveau collection.

This outfit works for now, and I also think it will be great heading into fall!

I’m glad I took a chance on something new!
