Sartorial Saturday–An Apron for Autism Acceptance

I’m so excited about this year’s charity apron from Rare Dirndl, and just in time for Autism Acceptance Month, too!

I have been a huge fan of Rare Dirndl’s summer charity projects since I bought the lemons apron back in 2022. I’ve enjoyed supporting various charities, some of which I hadn’t heard of before, and I love that as a company, Rare Dirndl wants to give back. This year’s apron, though, is especially near and dear to my heart, because the organization being supported is the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity, whose mission is to “help Autistic and similarly Neurodivergent people build meaningful, connected lives.” If you’ve followed my blog for any amount of time, you probably know that autism is something that has touched my family’s life.

Here’s a closer look at the bright and bold puzzle piece print…I also love the contrasting apron ties!

I kept my accessories simple, with a blue necklace from Meteor Jewelry Company and an edelweiss wrap bracelet from Rare Dirndl, plus hoop earrings:

I paired the apron with my purple dirndl dress because I love the way the colors look together, but I’m also looking forward to wearing it with my blue Everyday Dirndl, and probably a few others, too!

Rare Dirndl is actually offering a second apron in support of this cause this year, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to buy it, too…I love that’s it’s very different, but equally beautiful, and still supports a great cause!

Sartorial Saturday–The 2024 Charity Apron

Following the lemon apron of 2022 and the sunflower apron of 2023, Rare Dirndl is back with another charity apron…this time, they’re supporting the Clean Air Task Force, whose mission is “to achieve a zero-emissions, high-energy planet at an affordable cost.” In keeping with the earthy theme, the print on the apron features mushrooms, flowers, and foliage in natural colors, with grey denim ties.

I accessorized with a floral crown, my stag statement necklace, and an edelweiss wrap bracelet and clip, which I wore as a brooch:

I felt like my Herbology dirndl and Birkenstocks were the perfect folksy pieces for this look!

This was the outfit I chose for Maifest at Grant’s Farm…I got tons of compliments (and was also mistaken for one of the dancers!)!

Here’s a closer look at the print and lovely bow:

I love that Rare Dirndl supports charities, and also that I get introduced to new charities I hadn’t heard of before!

I’m already looking forward to seeing who they’ll support next year!

Sartorial Saturday–The Summer 2023 Charity Apron

Last summer, Rare Dirndl introduced a charity apron in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand…they’re back this year with a beautiful sunflower edition supporting Mercy Corps, an organization with a mission to “to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.”

Mercy Corps is currently on the ground in Ukraine (thus the beautiful sunflower print with contrasting blue ribbon in the apron ties), as well as Romania and Poland, and they are working specifically to aid Ukrainian refugees by supporting organizations that provide medical supplies and food items.

I accessorized with (what else?), lots of flowers! I kind of wish I had a floral crown with sunflowers, but at least the blue flower in this one matches the ribbon on the apron, right? I also pinned my edelweiss clip to my dirndl in place of a brooch. I didn’t wear my edelweiss necklace this time, though…instead I went bold with my stag!

This is not just an apron with a conscience, it’s also perfect for summer! Since it is such a great look for warm weather, I swapped out the shoes I normally pair with dirndls for a pair of well-loved Birkenstocks, and I think they’re the perfect footwear for this dress and apron combo!

I really want to wear this to a sunflower field when they’re in full bloom!

Erika kindly gifted me this apron, so I didn’t have to make a purchase to help fund the charity’s effort. Instead, I made a donation directly to the organization, and I encourage you to find a charity to support this summer, too!

Sartorial Saturday–An Apron with a Conscience

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

When I first saw the Rare Dirndl Lemonade Stand apron, I thought it was pretty. But when I learned that the proceeds from the aprons were going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand to benefit pediatric cancer research, I knew that it wasn’t just pretty, it was also a piece of clothing with a conscience!

I actually didn’t have my purple dirndl in mind when I ordered the apron…at least not for my first styling. But when I saw the lovely color in the flowers, a faint pinkish-purple, I knew that it would be perfect…and I really love purple and yellow together, too!

I went with lots of edelweiss accessories:

It’s such a summery look!

I’d love to see Rare Dirndl do more charity aprons in the future…it’s a great way for me to support both a small business and a good cause!
