Sartorial Saturday…On a Friday–All Dolled Up

One of the most-anticipated movies of the year comes out today…the Barbie movie! I will be the first person to tell you I’ve never really been into Barbie (I had some as a child, but they’re not dolls I ever bought for my children), but she does have impeccable style, which is why I now have three outfits inspired by the famous fashion doll in my wardrobe, including my newest variation on the Dollface dress from Vixen by Micheline Pitt, in a beautiful blue and white chevron pattern.

If you think the dress looks familiar, it’s because its design is inspired by Barbie’s 1959 striped swimsuit. The first Dollface dress Vixen sold was in that iconic black and white chevron, but they added both pink and blue versions, and I’ve been waiting and waiting for the blue to come back, because it’s just so pretty!

How to accessorize a Barbie dress? Let’s start with a matryoshka brooch from Erstwilder, because one doll deserves another! I also added white lace gloves, my standard pearls, blue hair flowers, and silver hoop earrings.

I couldn’t resist picking up the Loungefly crossbody bag to go with the dress, and not only is it really cute, the round shape is fun, and not something I already had in my wardrobe!

Picking shoes to go with the dress was a bit of a challenge at first, until I remembered my sparkly silver t-straps…I think they’re perfect for a Barbie-inspired outfit!

It’s such a bright and pretty look!

Are you planning on seeing the Barbie movie? I’m probably going to wait until it’s streaming somewhere, but I’m definitely interested in watching it!

Sartorial Saturday–Inspired by Barbie

I have wanted a Vixen by Micheline Pitt Dollface dress for literal years!

This beautiful black and white striped dress gets its inspiration from Barbie’s iconic 1959 black and white chevron striped swimsuit. Even though they are completely different articles of clothing, the connection is clear:

The options for accessorizing are endless because everything goes with black and white. This time, I added in a little burgundy to a black and white stack of Splendette duchess bangles, plus more black and white with an Erstwilder brooch, my favorite pillbox hat and lace gloves, and a Burgundy Yemak cropped cardigan:

Over the years, the Dollface dress has also been available in pink & white and blue & white variations. Each time this dress has come and gone from Vixen’s website, I’ve been filled regret that I didn’t order one…it didn’t matter which color, I just loved the style and design of the dress! When I heard that original colorway was finally making a comeback, I was ecstatic that I finally had a chance to add it to my wardrobe!

Like my other Vixen by Micheline Pitt dresses, it has a lovely full skirt perfect for twirling, and deep, deep pockets.

I love this dress, and if it was made available in other color combinations in the future, I’d think about adding another one to my closet!
