Sartorial Saturday…On a Friday–All Dolled Up

One of the most-anticipated movies of the year comes out today…the Barbie movie! I will be the first person to tell you I’ve never really been into Barbie (I had some as a child, but they’re not dolls I ever bought for my children), but she does have impeccable style, which is why I now have three outfits inspired by the famous fashion doll in my wardrobe, including my newest variation on the Dollface dress from Vixen by Micheline Pitt, in a beautiful blue and white chevron pattern.

If you think the dress looks familiar, it’s because its design is inspired by Barbie’s 1959 striped swimsuit. The first Dollface dress Vixen sold was in that iconic black and white chevron, but they added both pink and blue versions, and I’ve been waiting and waiting for the blue to come back, because it’s just so pretty!

How to accessorize a Barbie dress? Let’s start with a matryoshka brooch from Erstwilder, because one doll deserves another! I also added white lace gloves, my standard pearls, blue hair flowers, and silver hoop earrings.

I couldn’t resist picking up the Loungefly crossbody bag to go with the dress, and not only is it really cute, the round shape is fun, and not something I already had in my wardrobe!

Picking shoes to go with the dress was a bit of a challenge at first, until I remembered my sparkly silver t-straps…I think they’re perfect for a Barbie-inspired outfit!

It’s such a bright and pretty look!

Are you planning on seeing the Barbie movie? I’m probably going to wait until it’s streaming somewhere, but I’m definitely interested in watching it!

Sartorial Saturday–Loungefly Love

I’m no stranger to Loungefly bags and wallets…I have purchased various items for my daughters for years. But I didn’t buy a Loungefly for myself until our trip to Disney World last year:

Now I have A Problem:

Actually, that’s not 100% true. I bought the silver wallet before our trip, because I needed a new wallet anyway, and I figured it might as well be something that would remind me of the fun I was certain we would (and did!) have. But the other two wallets, five mini backpacks, and three crossbody bags were all purchased during or after our vacation!

I’ve covered most of the Loungefly highlights I wanted to add to my wardrobe (Christmas, sequins, Star Wars, princess sequins, The Three Caballeros, Christmas sequins, Disney World 50, and did I mention sequins), but I’m still hoping to add a Disney 100 bag, and if there’s something really cool in the current Decades collection, I might pick up something from that, too!

Sartorial Saturday…On A Sunday–Polka Dot Day

Happy National Polka Dot Day, a day to celebrate the iconic style of that Disney fashionista, Minnie Mouse (although I still like Daisy Duck best!). I pulled out my best polka dot dress, the Maneater swing dress from Vixen by Micheline Pitt, for the occasion:

I didn’t buy this Loungefly polka dot crossbody bag, which is designed in the pastel colors of 90s Minnie Mouse, for this holiday, but I’m glad it arrived in time for it! It doesn’t matter which side of the bag you’re looking at…they’re both adorable!!!

I accessorized with some Splendette Duchess Bangles, an Erstwilder Jemima Puddleduck brooch (you know, because Minnie Mouse’s best friend is a duck), a pink hat, and my Minnie Mouse earrings:

It might not be Minnie’s usual color combination (at least not these days), but I think I captured her joyful spirit!

I can’t believe how perfectly the whole look came together!

What a great way to remind me of the fun of our Disney World trip!

Sartorial Saturday–Thank the Phoenicians

“Remember how easy it was to learn your ABC’s? Thank the Phoenicians, they invented them.”

Spaceship Earth

This isn’t the first time I’ve shared a fashion based on EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth, but it is the first time since riding it last summer!

Shortly after we got home from our trip, I ran across a kickstarter for a Spaceship Earth-inspired crossbody bag, created by the designer behind Charmed & Cozy. I immediately fell in love, and I was thrilled when the goal was met, and equally happy when it arrived in a very timely fashion! Aren’t the colors pretty?!?

Of course I had to style it with my Spaceship Earth dress!

I went with blue accessories this time, starting with a Yemak cropped cardigan and including a stack of Splendette duchess bangles, my Meteor Jewelry Starlite necklace, and an Erstwilder brooch perfect for the theme…it’s all very mid-century marvelous, don’t you think?

I added my sparkly silver shoes and a sparkly silver belt to complete the look:

I don’t usually wear my crossbody bags across my body (I’m weird that way), but I’m very happy that the strap on this one is long enough that I can if I want to!

It’s a good size bag, too…I can definitely fit all my essentials plus a few extras!

I’m loving that I’ve embraced Disney-inspired fashion!

Sartorial Saturday–Inspired by Architecture

I’m not sure that I’ve ever purchased an accessory inspired by architecture before, but this Loungefly Disney Contemporary Resort handbag certainly is!

I love that the bag has the a-line shape of the main building of the resort, plus a whimsical print that combines Mickey and Minnie with mid-century details (the perfect reflection of the resort, which is also celebrating an anniversary this year!). And if you look closely, you’ll notice that the handle is in the shape of the monorail that travels through the building!
