Sartorial Saturday–Thanks PUG!

Here’s one more look at the new dresses that Pinup Girl Clothing recently added to their Magic of Mary Blair collection and kindly sent to me. Out of the five dresses, there are three different styles in four-ish prints (the two plane prints are so different, I’m not sure how to count them!). Two of the styles (the Natalie Swing and the Audrey), were new additions to my wardrobe, and I love having some new options! If you asked me to pick a favorite, I don’t think I could, but I will say I love the way the Harley dress fits, and I also love having the clown print in my closet, because I didn’t have that one in any form before.

With the exception of the commuters print, I think I now own at least one version of each Mary Blair print that PUG has released. They are definitely some of my favorite items, and I love how cheerful I feel when I’m wearing any one of them! Thanks PUG, for making my closet a happier place!!!

Sartorial Saturday…On a Tuesday–Red, White, and Blue

Since tomorrow is Independence Day in the U.S., I thought I’d share a few ideas for dressing for the Fourth of July. You’ll notice Pinup Girl Clothing’s Mary Blair plane print makes an appearance three different ways…as a Harley dress, a Natalie swing dress, and a Doris skirt. The red, white, and blue of the print is perfect for Independence Day fashion! So are PUG’s red Harley top, blue sky harlequin skirt, and red, white, and blue Amanda dress!

Sartorial Saturday-Audrey

You might be thinking you’ve seen this outfit on me be before. And you’d be almost right…in the past, I have paired my Mary Blair boat print Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing with a pink top. But this piece is new, from the latest addition to PUG’s Magic of Mary Blair collection…it’s an Audrey dress featuring the boat print! While I am wearing the same belt and shoes, I tried to accessorize the rest of the outfit a bit differently, and I’m happy with what I came up with!

Sartorial Saturday–Send in the Clowns

Of all the dresses Pinup Girl Clothing sent me from the Mary Blair collection, I was most excited to receive the clown print Natalie swing dress. To be honest, I don’t like clowns at all, but there’s something so fun and whimsical about this print, and I had really regretted not purchasing it the last time it was available, so this was greatly appreciated!

I knew exactly how I wanted to accessorize the dress the moment I saw it…I went with my yellow and dark blue Splendette Duchess bangles, a yellow necklace, and the Twiney Rainbow Bubbles earrings I ordered from PUG the day they were released.

The outfit looks exactly like I hoped it would!

This is such a fun dress, and with it in my wardrobe, there is now only one PUG Mary Blair print I don’t own in one form or another!

Sartorial Saturday–Feeling Dapper

Have you ever heard of “Dapper Day?” It’s an opportunity to get dressed up in your finest and gather at one of the Disney Parks with other people who also love an excuse to get dressed up. I’ve never had the chance to attend a Dapper Day event, but when Pinup Girl Clothing previewed their latest Dapper Day collaboration, which includes this beautiful “Flags Ahoy” print Bella skirt, I knew I would have to add it my wardrobe, and wear it with my blue PUG peasant top. The colors in the skirt are AMAZING, and the print, designed by Justin J., is in some ways reminiscent of a Mary Blair design.

It’s so easy to accessorize this beautiful print. This time, I went with mostly yellow, and added in my new Twiney Rainbow Bubbles earrings from PUG…aren’t they fun?!?

There’s nothing I don’t love about this outfit!

I think it would be loads of fun to go to a Dapper Day event someday, but until then, I’ll be there in spirit and fashion!

Sartorial Saturday–Taking Flight

I was very excited to find the Mary Blair planes print Harley dress in the box Pinup Girl Clothing sent me last month. I only own one other Harley dress, and because it was a clearance item, I had to buy a size larger than I normally wear, so it doesn’t fit quite right, which doesn’t stop me from wearing, but does limit how I can wear it. This dress, however, fits like a glove, and I love it!

I thought it would be fun to do another special photo shoot, so we went to beautiful Tower Grove Park in St. Louis, and finished up just before a storm rolled in!

I love how easy it to accessorize this dress…I went with green accents this time, but I could have easily done red or blue as well!

This is a great summer dress, and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. Come fall, I can just throw on my bolero to ward off the chill!

Sartorial Saturday–Mary Blair Meets Sailor Moon

The first time my daughters saw the new Pinup Girl Clothing Natalie swing dress in the Mary Blair planes border print, they said it looked like Sailor Moon. And if you’re not focusing on the print, they’re right! So I decided to run with that theme and style it in the most Sailor Moon way I could.

I went with red, white, and silver accessories, which included a red belt, a Splendette stack, a red wicker purse, and moon earrings (of course). I think the hair flower is an especially ingenious touch…it’s like I ran into Tuxedo Mask!

There’s nothing I don’t love about this dress!

I’d like to think that Mary Blair herself would approve of this styling…it’s a great tribute to an amazing female artist and a great show about women!

Sartorial Saturday–Queen of the May

If our 17th wedding anniversary (yesterday) wasn’t a good enough excuse to break out my bridal tiara and pair it with my Pinup Girl Clothing castle print Jenny skirt, then certainly today’s Royal Wedding is, right?

The shirt is bright and bold, so I went with simple (fake) pearl and (not really) silver accessories…all in all, I think it’s a pretty regal look!

Sartorial Saturday–All Aboard!

This is the first of a very special series of “Sartorial Saturday” “Thanks PUG” posts, ones that feature the five new Pinup Girl Clothing Mary Blair dresses that they kindly sent me this month!

I’m starting off with the Mary Blair pink train print Natalie swing dress. And in honor of this very special occasion, I chose to take pictures at historic Union Station in St. Louis.

This is a new style of dress for me, and I love it. The top is very similar to the peasant tops I wear with so many of my skirts, with the addition of a fun tie. And the skirt is full enough to accommodate a petticoat, which is a must for me!

I also love the color combination on this dress. My one regret about buying the pink trains Aurora dress, (instead of getting a skirt), is that I was never able to pair it with my blue peasant top. But now I have that same look, and it’s just as amazing as I knew it would be!

The accessories practically chose themselves. Of course I had to go with my Deer Arrow train brooch, plus a Meteor Jewelry necklace, a Splendette stack, silver hoop earrings, and a blue handbag:

I love how bright and happy the whole outfit is!

My “Thanks PUG” series may not run on consecutive Saturdays (I have something else planned for next weekend’s Royal Wedding), but stay tuned to see how I style my other new dresses!

Sartorial Saturday–More Mary Blair

Today is the last day of Pinup Girl Clothing’s #ILOVEMARYBLAIR contest! While it’s been going on, I’ve been working really hard to style some of Mary Blair pieces in new ways. It’s not easy! Since they’re some of the most-worn items in my wardrobe, it’s challenging to think of different ways to wear them, but I managed to put together a few new outfits, and I’m really happy with the results!
