Sartorial Saturday–Mixing Patterns

Time for another styling of some pieces already in my wardrobe in anticipation of autumn! Today I’m mixing patterns with the plaid Elsa-Lee blazer and the checked Magdalia-Lee swing dress. I’m not usually one to combine patterns like this, but there’s something about this combination that I really like!

I accessorized with my Vixen by Micheline Pitt polka dot gloves, a stack of Splendette duchess bangles, an Erstwilder brooch, and my blue hat:

I think this works so well because the colors play nicely together, and the pattern on the skirt is fairly subtle, and doesn’t really compete with the jacket.

I wish I had thought of this combination sooner!

Do you like to mix patterns?

Sartorial Saturday–A Sweet Swing Dress

The Inga-Regina swing dress didn’t make my final cut when I was planning my purchases from the Miss Candyfloss “Smile with Lucy” collection. But then they offered an end-of-season voucher, and when I was browsing their website, I discovered that there was exactly one Inga-Regina left in stock, and it just happened to be in my size…what are you going to do? So that’s how I ended up with one more piece from the collection than I was planning on, and I’m happy I did!

The style of this dress is pretty different from what I usually wear. It has bishop sleeves (which aren’t totally obvious, because the cuffs are surprisingly loose, which is not a problem I usually have). It also has a cutout detail at the neck, with a sweet little bow as an adornment.

I was surprised to discover that the accent color of the dress is actually orange, and not burgundy like I had assumed. So I added an orange Splendette duchess bangle to my accessories, along with sliver hoops à la Lucy Ricardo, an Erstwilder brooch, and a delicate necklace (I didn’t want to compete with the beautiful neckline!).

I also wore a ring over my gloves:

I love the plaid of the dress, and the pops of bright blue from the cuffs and belt!

It was fun to add an unexpected piece to my wardrobe…now it’s time to wait for them to reveal their spring/summer collection!

Sartorial Saturday–Old Hollywood Glamour

It’s finally time to take a look at the piece I most eagerly anticipated from the Miss Candyfloss “Smile with Lucy” collection…the Talise-Dora lace playsuit!

I was so excited to finally receive this beautiful one-piece pantsuit. The lace bodice has almost an ombré effect thanks to the dark brown and sand beige color gradients. It is also adorned with both glitter and sequins…plenty of sparkle for a special occasion or just a random day!

I accessorized with my camel-colored hat, a brown and white Splendette stack of Duchess Bangles, and my one pair of Erstwilder earrings. I also added velvet gloves with a ring on top.

The pants are also a beautiful dark brown, with elegant wide legs.

Here’s a closer look at my accessories and the beautiful lace bodice. I love the attention to detail in this piece…the buttons are even covered in the same lace!

It’s such an elegant and glamorous look!

This was my final purchase from the “Smile with Lucy” collection, which is convenient because Miss Candyfloss has also finished releasing pieces for the season. Now it’s time to dream about what the spring/summer 2023 collection will be!

Sartorial Saturday–Winter Playsuit

The Miss Candyfloss Ramira-Gia floral playsuit isn’t my first playsuit, but it the first I have that is suitable for the colder months!

As soon as I saw this beautiful piece, I fell in love. While Miss Candyfloss makes a lot of one-piece pantsuits, they don’t often make one that isn’t a solid color from top to bottom. My favorite styles, though, are the ones that have a different bodice from the pants. This beautiful floral print contrasted with green pants is outstanding!

My Collectif doctor’s bag handbag is a perfect match!

There is something so elegant about a wide leg pant, yet they’re so easy to wear when the look is all one piece!

I accessorized with blue, green, and cream to go with the outfit, including a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles and a navy hat:

It’s a great look for winter! (And, speaking from experience, with red accessories, also a great look for Christmastime!)

I’m still waiting on one more Miss Candyfloss playsuit this winter, and that one is the most glamorous yet…stay tuned!

Sartorial Saturday–Tartan Trimmings

Time for a look at another piece from the Miss Candyfloss “Smile with Lucy” collection!

The Iliana-Bo is a wine-colored swing dress with tartan details. It’s a beautiful color for autumn, and I love tartan, especially one that is primarily grey!

The accessories were a little hard to pin down for this one…in the end, I decided on blue and brown Splendette duchess bangles and a gold locket brooch from Erstwilder, plus a hat and gloves in tan. I think this dress would also look great with dark green accents!

Update: It does, indeed, look great with green accessories!

I love the bold collar and square neckline:

I’m really enjoying wearing a statement ring over my gloves this fall!

Like all good dresses, it has deep pockets!

It’s such a wonderfully classic look!

There are only two more pieces from this collection that I’m waiting for…I hope I’m able to get both of them!

Sartorial Saturday–It’s All About the Details

It’s time to take a look at my very favorite dress from the Miss Candyfloss “Smile with Lucy” collection…the Jael-Abalone.

This dress is similar in style to the Selena-Sun, one of my favorite pieces from this year’s spring collection. It has the same fun collar, square neckline, and asymmetrical row of functioning buttons down the front.

A detail I didn’t know about until I received the dress is the gorgeous and subtle tone-on-tone pattern found on the cuffs, collar, and belt…I love it!

I also love the colors of the dress…blue and grey are so pretty together, and the gentle stripes add just the right amount of visual interest!

I accessorized with a silver brooch, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and a pretty floral ring, plus a hat and gloves:

I love the elegant simplicity of this dress!

It’s such a smart look!

I now have half of the items on my wishlist from this collection…I hope the other pieces are released soon!

Sartorial Saturday–Check it Out

My second purchase from the Miss Candyfloss “Smile with Lucy” autumn/winter collection is a dress I almost didn’t get, the Magdalia-Lee swing dress.

Because I knew that stock would be limited, I was ready to go before the items were released on the website, but sometimes, luck just isn’t on your side, and what I assume was the only dress available in my size was gone before I could click “add to cart.” Not for the first time, Miss Candyfloss graciously pointed me to one of their online stockists, Nostalgie Shop, where I was able to order the dress. I continue to be impressed with the customer service I receive from Miss Candyfloss!

This is a lovely swing dress with a checked skirt in navy and lilac. The simple neckline is lovely, as is the way the colors of the dress change a bit in different lights.

I chose blue and lilac accessories to accompany the dress, including a Splendette stack, a favorite Erstwilder brooch, and a cute hat.

The dress has plenty of twirl!

And it also has the most important feature…pockets!

I’m so happy Miss Candyfloss was able to help me find this dress online, because I can already tell it’s going to be a new favorite!

Sartorial Saturday–Smile with Lucy

I could not be more excited about the new Miss Candyfloss autumn/winter lookbook, “Smile with Lucy!” The entire collection is inspired by one of my favorite icons, the inimitable Lucille Ball.

The very first release from the collection included the Mandisa-Dora tartan swing dress, and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love:

The dress is made of a wool blend, which worried me a little, but somehow, it manages not to be itchy at all.

I accessorized with a few Splendette duchess bangles perfect for fall, and a lovely gold brooch from Erstwilder. I even got out my velvet gloves (even though it’s really too hot to wear them yet).

The tartan print is so pretty!

This is a great dress for early fall…even though it is a wool blend, it’s not heavy, and the short sleeves make it easy to wear while it’s still warm out.

I can’t wait for the rest of the collection to be released…everything in the lookbook is fantastic!
