Sartorial Saturday…On a Sunday–A Dress Suit for Easter

This year for Easter, I wanted to wear something really different!

I don’t normally wear wiggle dresses (or lime green), but when I saw the Grainne-Lina dress and the Jordi-Lina blazer from Miss Candyfloss, I couldn’t get them out of my mind! The cut of the jacket, in particular, is so striking, with the double collar, wide sleeves, lovely peplum, and green polka dot trim, and the color just screams spring and Easter!

My fears about how I look in green have been completely assuaged…I actually think it’s a really fabulous shade for me!

I feel ready to walk down 5th Avenue in this outfit!

I decided to go with pink accessories, featuring a fascinator and lace gloves. I added a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, a new Easter brooch from Erstwilder, and a pair of SUGARFIX by Baublebar butterfly earrings that I found at Target:

I continue to be impressed with how well Miss Candyfloss does peplums!

Here’s a look at the dress without the blazer. I love the detail at the waist!

I love trying something new, and I’m really excited about how well this worked out!

Sartorial Saturday–Swinging the Blues

It’s time for a look at an outfit from the Miss Candyfloss “Exquisite” collection that I almost didn’t order…the Minerva-Lee double collared blazer and the Cressida-Lee swing skirt with buttons!

In general, I prefer wearing dresses to skirts, because dresses are so much easier (no worries about what top you’re going to pair with them), and you can worry a bit less about the fit (no fussy waistband as long as the rest of the garment fits). I had a dress that I was planning to order from Miss Candyfloss (the lovely Xanthe-Mai blazer dress if you were wondering), and I was really looking forward to it, and then I saw this beautiful skirt suit styled a few different ways, and I knew that I had to add it my wardrobe instead.

I accessorized with blue and white Splendette Duchess Bangles and a cute Erstwilder bird brooch, plus some lacy gloves and my favorite hat:

The jacket is the most gorgeous shade of blue! I love the double collar, and the contrasting cuffs and buttons.

One of the best features of the jacket, though, you only see from behind…it has the most elegant peplum!

I also love that the skirt buttons all the way down the front…I think that will provide some interesting styling opportunities next summer!

This look is so lovely…I’m glad I decided against my standard dress for once!

I’m looking forward to pairing the jacket with some of my dresses, and the skirt is going to be a great year-round piece that will go with so many things!

Sartorial Saturday–Pants and a Jacket

I am so ready for autumn! I’ve been going through my wardrobe, looking for cool-weather pieces I already have the I haven’t worn together yet. The first items that jumped out at me were the Elke-Amber short blazer and the Brindy-Dora swing pants…they’re the perfect color palette for fall!

I accessorized with my favorite hat, orange and brown Splendette Duchess Bangles, and an Erstwilder brooch. I also wore a ring over my golden velvet gloves.

I love the way the whole look turned out!

I’m really looking forward to actually being able to wear my autumn clothes instead of just styling them…hopefully in the not-too-distant future!

Sartorial Saturday–Summer Whites

I already shared whimsical stylings of the Honesta-May dress from Miss Candyfloss for Star Wars Day and for the Disney 100 celebration…now here’s a look at how I wear it for everyday!

Last spring, Miss Candyfloss had another white dress that I’ve regretted not buying ever since, partly because I really wanted to wear it with the beautiful Elsa-Lee blazer. I may have missed out on that dress, but the Honesta-May, with its lovely embroidery, goes perfectly with the jacket!

I accessorized with blue and silver, including a stack of Splendette Duchess bangles. I also added a lovely hydrangea brooch from Erstwilder.

I love the way the plaid contrasts with the white!

Here’s a look at the dress without the blazer:

This dress is so easy to style…I wasn’t sure I really needed a white dress in my wardrobe, but as it turns out, it’s a very versatile piece!

Sartorial Saturday–Suiting Up

It’s taken me close to a full year to write this blog post, and it took me almost that long to wear my Miss Candyfloss Verena-Bo blazer for the first time!

I ordered this blazer after Christmas last year, with a voucher similar to the one I used to purchase the Inga-Regina dress. And then it sat in my closet, because there was a catch…I had to order the blazer in a size up because that’s all they had left, and I just didn’t have an opportunity to have it tailored. But this fall I realized that if I waited to have it tailored to fit, I might never get around to wearing it, so even though it’s too big, I paired it with the Jolene-Plum dress (one of the two pieces I have that I knew the blazer would go with), to create a dress suit.

I kept my accessories simple…a pair of Splendette Duchess Bangles, an Erstwilder brooch, and a hat:

Aren’t the faux fur cuffs (and matching collar and pocket trim) lovely?

Yes, I admit that the Verena-Bo doesn’t fit quite as it should. The arms, in particular, are quite loose (and a bit long). But adding a belt to the look helps add some structure to the body of the jacket, and honestly, in the absence of actual tailoring, I’m pretty happy with how the look came together! Now I just need to style it with the Becky-Bo skirt (which is also a bit too big, but that’s a story for another time)!
