Christmas Queen

You know how, in A Charlie Brown Christmas, Lucy tells Charlie Brown, “We’ve even got a Christmas Queen!”? Well, that’s me…the Christmas Queen. And now I even have the perfect Christmas skirt, from the Oblong Box Shop, that has the same mid-century modern feel as the aluminum trees that the Christmas Queen in the special favored! Instead of aluminum trees, however, this skirt features the ceramic trees that were so popular with everyone’s grandma!

I think my favorite way to wear the skirt is with a green peasant top from Pinup Girl Clothing…the colors are perfect together!

It also looks great with white (also from Pinup Girl):

And I’m still trying to break free of my wariness about wearing red and pink together…this pink top (another staple from Pinup Girl!) goes so well with the Sputnik lamp ornaments “hanging” from the waistband of the skirt!

Did I mention that the Oblong Box Shop even has a Sputnik lamp brooch to coordinate with the ornaments on the skirt?

This is my most Christmas-y piece of clothing yet, and I love wearing it every chance I get!

Silver & Blue Belle

I found one more way to style my blue ice harlequin circle skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing!

img_9735

I went for a silver, blue, and white look. I even dug out my silver heels for the occasion…although, to be honest, they’re not the most practical footwear at this time of year. They look great, though!

I still can’t get over how perfectly this Erstwilder brooch goes with the skirt…I don’t think I’ll ever wear a different brooch with it!

I really love this skirt. Obviously, I’m thinking Christmas now, but in a month, I’ll be wearing it and thinking winter! I’m so happy I won’t have to pack it away until next year after the 12 days of Christmas are over!

Italian Christmas

I’ve already shared a few outfits that paired bold, bright reds and greens. This time, I’m going for a slightly more subdued, yet still Christmas-colored, look that includes one of my favorite Jenny skirts…the Italian landscape print.

They may be different shades of green, but I still love the way my Christmas tree brooch looks on this top!

Sometimes I’m still shocked by how much I love this particular top from Pinup Girl Clothing, because I had never worn this color before, and I wouldn’t have thought it would look good on me. As it turns out, it’s a flattering shade of green for my skin tone, and I’m glad it goes with so many of my skirts!

Ice Queen

I’ve already shared how this beautiful blue ice harlequin skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing looks paired with a blue top, but I thought I’d go full on Ice Queen with a white peasant top and bolero. I think I like this look even more, and my Erstwilder snowflake brooch is still a perfect match!

Chickadee thinks I look like Elsa from Frozen in this outfit, which is about the highest compliment she could pay anyone, so I’d say it’s a huge success!

Candy Cane Style

I am all in on candy cane stripes and elf style today, and I’m not even sorry! Like the red and green outfit I shared last week, this is another Pinup Girl Clothing look that I have refrained from wearing until now, even though I love Mary Blair transportation prints with stripes, because the colors are so Christmas-y This is the one time of year I know I can get away with this look, though. And my favorite Christmas brooch also goes perfectly with the outfit!

The print on the skirt may not have a Christmas theme, but the overall look is very festive, don’t you think?

Blue and White

I have wanted a harlequin print skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing for a long time. But it had to be the right colors…I didn’t want to buy one just for the sake of buying it. And I had assumed that when I finally found the right one, it would be a Jenny skirt, which is my favorite Pinup Girl style. But when I saw this blue ice circle skirt, I knew that it was the one I needed, so I got my Christmas gift from Ryan a little bit early this year!

This Erstwilder snowflake brooch is a perfect match for the skirt, too!

The color scheme on this skirt is great…it will last all winter, and let’s face it, probably even beyond. And the twirl factor is amazing, so of course, I’m in love!

Green & Red

I have refrained from wearing this outfit up until today, because even though the Pinup Girl Clothing Mary Blair boats skirt goes together really well with this red Harley top, the green and red combo just screams “Christmas!”

Well, it’s Christmastime now, so for the next six-ish weeks, I figure I can wear it with abandon:

Of course, it gets pretty chilly here come December, so I need to add something to keep my arms from freezing, and this white bolero is just right for it!

I love a Christmas-inspired outfit!

Stripes and Umbrellas

I have been meaning to wear this striped jailbird top and Mary Blair umbrella print Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing for months, but for some reason I never got around to it. I finally thought to put the outfit together over the weekend, for our visit to Grant’s Farm. I don’t care what “they” say about plus-size women wearing stripes…I love the way the black and white looks with the pink! This is one of those outfits that just makes me immediately happy when I put it on!

What fashion “rules” do you like break?

Transformation

I decided to step way out of my comfort zone, and try a new style of dress in a wildly new print designed by Stephanie Buscema for Pinup Girl Clothing!

img_7057

I’ve looked at other Allison dresses before, but never found one I loved enough to try it out. I really love the Snow White evil queen transformation print, though, and was regretting not even trying to get a Jenny skirt in the same print, so when I saw that it was going to be available in this dress, I knew I had to try it out.

The colors and print of the skirt are amazing. And while I know a lot of people weren’t sure about the color of the top, I love the way it brings out that same color in the skirt. It really works for me. It’s also a great fall/winter dress, especially given that I didn’t already have any other dresses in this sleeve length.

The name of the print is kind of fitting for me, as this dress shows just how far my transformation has come since I started dressing in Pinup Girl styles. I’m not into Halloween, but even though this print is part of the Halloween collection, I love it. I’m also not particularly into Disney, but again, this print (and the colors used in it) are so gorgeous, I don’t even care. This dress isn’t “me,” and yet at the same time, it really is! I’m not sure how that even works, but I’ve already found the perfect excuse to wear it, and I intend to continue doing do throughout the colder months!

Inspired by “I Love Lucy”

I’ve shared pictures of this skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing before, and even commented on how wearing it with an off-the-shoulder top made me feel like I belonged in the grape-stomping episode of I Love Lucy. But I changed the outfit up a bit, adding a peasant top and an amazing pair of Elizabeth Claire Taylor Legacy Work earrings (that look very similar to ones worn by Lucille Ball in many episodes of I Love Lucy), and now I really feel like Lucy Ricardo, especially when I look at black and white versions of the photos!

Going all-in on the look is also no problem…just add a hair scarf, and kick off the shoes, and the look transfers from everyday outfit to costume party ready!

I wonder what vintage TV show or movie will inspire me next!
