It seems like all we’ve had lately are grey, dismal days, so today, I went with what be the most cheery outfit I own!
I don’t know why this dress photographed so…almost purple, I guess? But even though the photos make the colors look a little weird, it doesn’t change how cheerful it it!
I knew I wanted to wear my new headpiece (again) for the Second Sunday of Easter, but it was watching the Captain America movies (again) this weekend that directed the 1940s vibe of the rest of the outfit, starring a floral Butterfly dress from Pinup Girl Clothing.
I especially enjoyed going super girly with a pink and purple bracelet stack and glitter bead necklace from Splendette. And have I mentioned how much I love these sandals? They go with literally everything, and now that it’s warming up (well, except for today), I can wear them all the time!
Here’s a look at this year’s Easter outfit:
I wanted to wear the classic 1950s harlequin print Long Jun skirt I got on sale from Pinup Girl Clothing after Christmas, so I started looking for a new pink top to wear with it. I looked…and I looked…and I looked some more. Pink tops that work with a retro look are apparently hard to come by. I finally found one at Lane Bryant, and I think it goes perfectly, especially with the fluttery sleeves.
Of course accessories are a must. I’ve been wearing the same Easter hat for years, so I got a new headpiece. Yes, it’s technically a fascinator, but it’s big enough that I think it’s hat-like. I added my favorite necklace and brooch, a springy bangle stack from Splendette, and, for the very first time, gloves! I’ve wanted Easter gloves for pretty much my entire life, so I’m very excited about this addition to the outfit!
I have now worn high heels for the first time since I broke my ankle in November, but it wasn’t what I would call a comfortable experience (although, are they ever, really?), so I went with my favorite sandals to finish off the outfit:
I really love how soft and springlike this whole look is!
How do you dress for Easter?
Here’s a look back at all of this year’s Mary Blair March outfits. I have 15 unique pieces in my wardrobe (nine dresses and six skirts), and I wore them each at least once, for a total of 23 different ensembles this March:
I’m still missing one (and only one, I think) print in some form in my wardrobe. I never did get my hands on the commuters print, and I think I may regret that oversight forever!

I love that I have this print in different styles (on the Aurora dress, the Jenny skirt, and the Natalie swing dress), and also in different colors. Like the planes, this is also fun to accessorize in different ways for totally different looks!
In honor of Mary Blair March, I thought I’d take a look at one of the two most common Mary Blair prints in my wardrobe…the planes print! I have this gorgeous pattern on three different Pinup Girl Clothing items: the Harley dress, the Natalie swing dress, and the Doris skirt:
I love the colors and whimsy of this print, and I really love how many different accessories in multiple shades work with it, making it super easy to create many different looks!

I think my favorite thing about Mary Blair’s artwork is her unorthodox use of color. Not only did she illustrate normal objects in unusual colors, like emerald skies and pink horses, she also paired unexpected colors with great success. This year, I decided to pair two shades of green I normally wouldn’t wear together in her honor, and I’m very pleased with the result…it’s the perfect green overload for St. Patrick’s Day!
Of course I had to add in green accessories, too, including an all green stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and my “lucky” green frog brooch from Erstwilder:

Mary Blair March is finally here!
I’ve been working on a way to combine one of my Mary Blair pieces (my clown print Natalie swing dress) with my Magically Made Celestina reversible capelet from Pinup Girl Clothing:
I love how well these two items go together! The reversible yellow side of the capelet is the perfect match for the yellow in the dress.
And this yellow starburst brooch from Luxulite goes great with both pieces!
This whole look just makes me happy!
