Sartorial Saturday–The Top Five Fashions of 2025

Time for one more look back at 2025…this time, my five favorite outfits I put together throughout the year.

First up is a look from April featuring a coordinating Miss Candyfloss dress and blazer, plus some pink accessories including a smart boater hat:

Next is a playsuit and overskirt from Her Universe that I wore on my birthday:

Here’s a surprisingly casual look, featuring a top and skort from Popflex…I love this color palette!

This might be my favorite Rare Dirndl combination from the year…I paired a velvet apron with “Die Heimat” dirndl, which has a suede bodice. I love all the textures and rich colors in this look!

And finally, another pretty different look for me, featuring a sweater from Lane Bryant I’ve had for YEARS and a new denim tulip-hem maxi skirt from the same store. I also added an Erstwilder neck scarf (that matches my Spiffy the Sausage Dog brooch) as a belt:

I love that these five favorite looks quite unintentionally showcase the five basic styles in my wardrobe. The Miss Candyfloss outfit is obviously my favorite retro style, the Her Universe set covers my love of Disney Style (and also crosses over with the retro, which Disney styles almost always do for me), the Popflex look is my standard athleisure style for playing tennis and going for walks, the Rare Dirndl pairing shows my love of national dress, and the casual Lane Bryant look is a little modern and little 90s throwback.

Coming up with new ways to style my favorite pieces in my wardrobe continues to be one of my favorite hobbies, and I’m already working on some new ideas for the new year!

2025 in Outfits

Over 300 unique outfits later, 2025 is coming to a close!

I really enjoy this outfit of the day photography project, because it forces me to think through my outfit choices. I have so much fun styling my favorite pieces new ways (the most drastic restyling of the year came when I cut the bodice off of a dress to turn it into a skirt!), and adding some new pieces to my wardrobe along the way. And now I’m left to consider what my first outfit of 2026 will be, because I want to start the new year strong, sartorially speaking!

Sartorial Saturday–Suits Me

You’ve seen the Miss Candyfloss Terentia-Paz vest, Arien-Minty bishop-sleeve blouse, and Lucile-Paz trumpet skirt separately…now I’m putting all three pieces together for a great suit look!

I added a pair of ankle boots from Lane Bryant in a slightly darker shade than the suit separates:

I love a Miss Candyfloss peplum!

I accessorized with a fascinator that’s perfect with the blouse, a vintage brooch, a RockLove Jewelry necklace, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles:

I love a vest/skirt suit! I think it’s a lot more fun than a jacket/skirt combo, because you can get a better look at the blouse paired with it.

I was initially unsure of trying out a trumpet skirt, or a vest for that matter, because they’re pretty different from what I usually wear, but they’ve become some of my favorite pieces!

Sartorial Saturday–Winter Florals

Getting a new Christmas apron from Rare Dirndl has become one of my favorite holiday traditions, and this year is no exception! The winter floral apron was made in very limited quantities, and I almost missed out on it…I’m so glad there a small second run, because this is one gorgeous apron!

To really lean into the Christmas theme, I paired it with my red Everyday Dirndl:

Here’s a closer look at the beautiful embroidery. There are so many beautiful colors in the flowers, and even though it’s called a “winter” floral apron, I know I’ll be wearing it all year!

I accessorized with a flower crown and a pair of necklaces from Rare Dirndl, plus an Erstwilder brooch (and a bonus mini brooch worn as a zipper pull!), a pair of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and sparkly hoop earrings from Lane Bryant in red, green, and white:

Instead of a dirndl blouse, I styled it with the green Clarisse-Gia blouse from Miss Candyfloss, which is the perfect Christmasy addition to the look!

It doesn’t get much more festive than this!

I’m already thinking of how I might style this apron slightly differently for Christmas Day!

Sartorial Saturday–A 40s Blouse and 90s Jeans

Today I’m taking a look at a different outfit combination…a 1940s-style pinstripe blouse and 1990s-fashion wide-leg jeans!

The Maryam-Lou blouse from Miss Candyfloss is actually a very natural match for my favorite wide leg jeans from Lane Bryant. The 1940s were known for ultra wide legs, as well, so the silhouettes of these two pieces are perfect for each other!

I went with somewhat dramatic accessories, including a sparkly pair of earrings, Splendette beads and Duchess Bangles, and a mirrored Erstwilder brooch:

I also added wine-colored ankle boots for an extra pop of color that is perfect with the blouse!

This is a fun way to wear my clothes in a slightly different style!

2024 in Outfits

Time for a look back at 2024’s outfits of the day!

I was very intentional about putting together outfits this whole year. I wanted to really wear my wardrobe, so I put together looks for trips to the library and Target and anywhere else I went (except Walmart, because Walmart doesn’t deserve my best except at Christmas when I try to spread a little holiday cheer wherever I go). I think there are over 250 unique looks here, so obviously I didn’t wear something notable every day, but it was the vast majority!

I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep a record like this again in 2025, but it really helps me pay attention to what I’ve worn (and what I’ve neglected), and how I’ve styled things differently, which I really enjoy!

Sartorial Saturday–Cute, Casual, and Comfortable

Usually I feature skirts and dresses here, but every once in a while, you need a comfy casual outfit, like this soft and cozy velour jogging suit from Lane Bryant!

When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for Christmastime thanks to the lovely shade of green, but it’s great for other laid-back days, too.

It’s very different from what I normally wear, which is part of what I love about it!

What do you like to wear when you’re keeping it comfortable?

Sartorial Saturday–A Velvet Apron for Christmas

It’s that time of year again…a new Christmas apron from Rare Dirndl has been added to my wardrobe!

This is a newer tradition that I really look forward…once fall hits, I start wondering what this year’s apron will look like. I was super excited to see this green velvet variety with holly-print ties (it was also offered with plaid and Santa-print ties)…velvet just screams “Christmas” to me!

It’s so luxurious, and is such a great match for my elegant brocade dirndl!

I accessorized with a tiny pair of wreath earrings, an Erstwilder brooch worn as a necklace, and a stack of Splendette duchess bangles:

I love wearing a festive dirndl to the Christkindlmarkt in downtown Belleville!

I bought a new pair of ankle boots to go with some of my Miss Candyfloss dresses, but I discovered that they are also a perfect match for my Magician dirndl!

This is such a fun way to dress for Christmas!

What festive fashion are you planning this season?

Sartorial Saturday…On a Sunday–2023 in Outfits

Time for a look back at all of the significant outfits I wore in 2023! I only included looks with purpose, so my super casual grocery shopping outfits, for example, won’t be seen here. But it was a busy year, with a decent amount of travel and special events, so I had a lot of reasons to “dress up,” including a few days with multiple outfits. You’ll see my favorite brands well-represented…Miss Candyfloss and Rare Dirndl for clothes, and Splendette and Erstwilder for accessories. There are also a few “cute casual” outfits sprinkled throughout on days I didn’t feel like wearing a dress or it wasn’t appropriate for the occasion. And there are also a few rare “Sartorial Saturday” looks that I photographed just for fun (like my Daisy Duck Disney Bound), that I didn’t wear anywhere in particular…but most are outfits that really went somewhere!

It was a lot of fun to put this gallery together, and it also helped me keep track of what I’ve been wearing…I think I wore everything in my wardrobe at least once during the course of the year, and you can definitely tell what my favorite pieces are, because they’re on repeat!

Sartorial Saturday–Revisiting the 90s

I don’t always wear retro clothes…sometimes I want to go more casual. And when I do, I often look like it’s still the 90s (so still retro, I guess, and now I feel old)! I have always loved super wide-leg jeans, and I’m really excited that they’re “in” again (this pair is from Lane Bryant, and they’re perfect)! I know, I know…they say if you wore a trend the first time around, you shouldn’t repeat it, but I am (obviously) not one to care about fashion rules!

Just because I go more casual from time to time doesn’t mean I don’t accessorize when I do. And what says 90s more than a bucket hat? I also added a stack of Homes Bracelets (that represent where I was in the 90s), and a RockLove Jewelry necklace from one of my favorite childhood Disney movies…The Little Mermaid.

I added a Disney tank and hoodie to complete the look…I love the color combination!

And my iridescent Docs:

I think I’ve captured the 90s in a pretty fresh way!

Maybe I’ll feature another casual look in the future!
