While Bunny did add some pillar type things to the Lego Disney Castle this morning (you can see some of them in the background), the most important addition to our Lego project for Advent was none other than Mickey Mouse himself!
Today Ladybug added some floor details to the Lego Disney Castle. We also got one of what I assume will be many Disney movie references…a pair of frogs outside the castle, one of which is wearing a tiny crown!

For the fourth year in a row, the Fab Five are working on a special Lego project for Advent (check out their previous builds of the Lego Millennium Falcon, Lego Diagon Alley, and Lego Hogwarts Castle). As so many things have been in 2022, this year’s project is related to our summer vacation to Disney World…they’re building the Lego Disney Castle! Turkey got it started by building the foundation:
It might not look like much yet, but I know from experience it will take shape quickly, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the hidden Disney details in the build!
This summer, I took a look at a chic Disney dress (and ears!) I wore on our vacation…now I’m taking a look at a more casual Disney look featuring a Disney World spirit jersey. I’m still not entirely clear on what makes a spirit jersey a spirit jersey, but it appears to be as simple as on oversized sweatshirt with writing on the back (in this case “Walt Disney World”). I love the gorgeous blue-purple color of this shirt, plus the fun confetti pattern which makes the Disney Castle appear in the negative space. And there’s even some subtle sparkle mixed in with the bright colors!
Speaking of sparkle, I also have the matching Loungefly mini backpack, which is covered in sequins!
The spirit jersey is also the perfect excuse to wear my Docs:
I love this look, and I also love that it will keep me remembering our vacation through the cold winter months!
This year’s summer school is going to be exceptionally fun, because we’re learning all about Disney! Walt Disney, Disney World, Disney animation/animators (including my favorite, Mary Blair), and Disney movies/characters. We’ll be reading books, watching movies, building an iconic Lego set, cooking, coloring, playing games, and doing crafts. Oh, and taking the biggest field trip of them all…a trip to Disney World! We’ve had a lot of fun summer school themes in the past, but I’m pretty sure this will go down as the most fun summer school ever!
The Fab Five gave me a really cool gift for Mother’s Day!
Even before we watched Turkey play through the Kingdom Hearts video game series, and long before we started planning our trip to to Disney World, I’ve had a fascination with the extended Duck family. Donald and Daisy are my favorites…his temper always cracks me up, and I love her fashion sense. And one day, I was doing some reading about the Ducks, and their associated relatives (including the Goose family), and I realized that Donald Duck’s mother, Hortense, was Scrooge McDuck’s sister. Which means her maiden name, if you will, was also McDuck, and if she had wanted to, she could have hyphenated her name to McDuck-Duck, and that thought made me happy.
But then I thought about it further, and realized that one of Hortense McDuck-Duck’s children could have married a member of the Goose family, and that hyphenated name would have been McDuck-Duck-Goose, and that thought made me practically delirious!
All that to say, I love the Ducks and McDucks. But wait, there’s more! Because Huey, Dewey, and Louie, the Duck triplets, have also become one of my favorite M*A*S*H* jokes. There’s a scene in my favorite episode where Frank Burns is rambling on about Margaret’s fiancé, Donald Penobscott, and he imagines them introducing their children, Huey, Dewey, and Louie Penobscott. It’s probably the funniest thing Frank ever says, and now whenever we talked about Huey, Dewey, and Louie, we always tack “Penobscott” on at the end!
I love how thoughtful my children are in choosing gifts!
Taking a break from my usual clothing and accessories Sartorial Saturdays to look at something equally fun…makeup!
My two oldest daughters and I recently discovered Colourpop Cosmetics (I blame Disney and Sailor Moon). I was actually the first one to try the brand, when I saw that they had a Frozen II Elsa collection that I knew would go perfectly with my skin tone on sale. I was impressed with the quality of the items right off the bat, (both the cosmetics and the packaging, which makes everything feel extra luxe), and then we found out that Colourpop was launching a special Sailor Moon collection, too. Ladybug had to get in on that, and while I was placing her order, Bunny decided to add some Disney villains items, and I purchased another Disney set, this time, Belle-themed.
Like I said, I’m really impressed with the quality. The pigments in the eyeshadows are perfectly saturated, and the lipsticks last really well. But I also love the quirky themes and fun colors. Lest you think they only make collections related to TV or movies, they also have a full line of other colorful products, including a “Build Your Own Palette” option for eyeshadow, which I think is really fun, and also really practical, because you can purchase only colors you know you’ll use, instead of having a few you know you’ll never touch.
Now that we’ve found Colourpop, we can’t wait to see what other collections and colors they’re going to come up with next!
I’ve never really considered myself to be a Disney person. But when I saw this dress by Disney, inspired by what might be the most famous geodesic dome, Spaceship Earth, I feel in love. Luckily for me, Ryan happened to notice, and bought me this beautiful dress for my birthday last month!
The print and simple colors of grey and white really appealed to me. And while the skirt isn’t as full as lot of the skirts I wear, it does have a nice flare:
I especially love the accessorizing options, because this dress goes with everything! Here I’m wearing purple and silver (with just a splash of blue on my brooch), but I’m looking forward to pairing it with yellow, pink, and darker shades of grey (and probably other colors, too!).
Did I mention that St. Louis is also home to a fairly notable geodesic dome at the Missouri Botanical Garden? I think this dress will also be a great option for the next time we visit the Climatron!
