Sartorial Saturday–Transformation Transformed

I’ve worn this beautiful and vibrant skirt (with artwork of the Evil Queen’s transformation from beautiful & regal ruler to old hag), designed by Stephanie Buscema twice in the last week.

Except if you’ve been following me for a while, you might recognize this print from a dress I’ve had in my wardrobe for almost a decade.

While I love everything about the skirt (especially the bold color palette, not to mention its fantastic volume!), I have always hated the bodice of the dress. So this year, I decided that since I’m an adult, I’m allowed to transform a dress I dislike into a skirt I love.

Yes, I hacked off the bodice of the dress. And since I decided to do it kind of last minute ahead of Halloween, I just added some velcro where the zipper was. I may take it to a tailor and have an actual zipper put in eventually, but for now, this works just fine!

I accessorized with a RockLove Jewelry Nightmare Before Christmas necklace, an Erstwilder Love Potion brooch, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, all in shades of purple, and I wore my Colourpop Cosmetics Evil Queen lipstick and lipgloss, too.

I paired my “new” skirt with my favorite purple Frenchie top from Unique Vintage:

I absolutely love how this whole look came together!

I’m glad I took a chance on changing something in my wardrobe from something I didn’t love into something I really do!

Mani Monday

This week’s mani is all about the orange and black of Halloween, featuring Holo Taco’s “Box Office Bomb” topped with “Cracked Taco Shell” and styled with my favorite Halloween brooch from Erstwilder!

Sartorial Saturday–InVESTment

Last week I took a look at a gorgeous Miss Candyfloss trumpet skirt in a vibrant shade of pink; this week it’s time for a look at the matching vest!

The Terentia-Paz is a beautiful tailored piece that is pretty much identical in style to the vest I added to my wardrobe last year. It also pairs well with the same Brindy-Dora pants, not to mention the Tannia-Khalia bishop-sleeve blouse!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…Miss Candyfloss does peplums extremely well!

I accessorized with a hat with a statement bow, an Erstwilder brooch, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles:

It’s a lovely, polished look!

I love how versatile Miss Candyfloss vests are…they go with so many different tops, skirts, and pants, and I even have plans to pair this one with a dress…stay tuned!

Sartorial Saturday–Trumpeting in Pink

Today I’m taking a look at my second trumpet skirt from Miss Candyfloss…the lovely Lucile-Paz in a vibrant mulberry pink!

I loved the Gillian-Kat trumpet skirt so much that I knew I wanted to add another to my wardrobe. When I saw this beautiful color, I knew that it (and the matching vest) was exactly what I was looking for.

I accessorized with my favorite hat, an Erstwilder brooch, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles.

I also added black lace gloves and a statement ring to complete the look:

Just like I did with the Gillian-Kat skirt, for my first wearing of the Lucile-Paz I paired it with a ruffled Frenchie top from Unique Vintage, this time in a dark grey:

I know I’m usually all about the swing skirts, but I really love the way a trumpet skirt looks and moves, and I think it’s a great style for me!

Stay tuned to see the matching vest!

Sartorial Saturday–Casual Stripes

It may be technically fall, but we’re still having summer weather, so today I’m taking a look at a casual, striped top from this year’s spring/summer collection from Miss Candyfloss.

The Kacey-Wisteria is a lovely, stretchy top with just a hint of off-the-shoulder playfulness in a soft shade of lavender. I paired it here with the Idalia-Lee skort from last year, but it goes well with so many other things in my wardrobe, from skirts to jeans!

I kept my accessories fairly simply, with a RockLove Jewelry water lily necklace, an Erstwilder brooch, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles:

I loved the Juliette-Rose dress so much that I knew I needed to add this top to my wardrobe…they’re very similar!

The back neckline of the shirt mirrors the front:

I love the nautical vibe of this look!

I’m looking forward to wearing this top under jackets once it cools off, too!

Sartorial Saturday–My First Capris

Miss Candyfloss is in the middle of releasing items from their new autumn/winter collection, but today I’m taking a look at my first pair of capri pants from the spring/summer ChĂ©rie Bardot lookbook!

The Jacinna-Lee capri pants in blue with white polka dots are extremely comfortable and very stretchy…I sized down from my usual Miss Candyfloss size, and I’m almost certain I could have gone two full sizes with no problem! I decided to go bold with pattern mixing by pairing them with the tartan Efrona-Lee blouse.

I accessorized with a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles and an Erstwilder brooch:

And I added a little bit of extra pattern with a belt covered in polka squares!

This is a great comfortable outfit to wear as the seasons change!

I’m really glad I got to add another new Miss Candyfloss style to my wardrobe!

Sartorial Saturday–Inspired by Daisy Duck

This isn’t the first Disney Bound I’ve done in honor of Daisy Duck, and it’s not even the first featuring this dress and cardigan, but it is my favorite look inspired by her signature style that I’ve come up with!

For this Disney Bound, I buttoned up my purple Yemak cropped cardigan over my white Honesta-May dress from Miss Candyfloss and cinched it with a pink belt. I also added a pink fascinator inspired by Daisy’s usual bow…I think the color palette is spot on!

I don’t have a daisy brooch, but I thought a white hydrangea from Erstwilder would be a good substitute. I also added a pair of Splendette Duchess Bangles in the same color as Daisy’s signature bracelet.

I think I captured Daisy’s look quite well, don’t you?

I tried to emulate her sass and sparkle as much as possible!

I really enjoy Disney Bounding, and it’s fun to try to figure out how the items I already have in my wardrobe can be used for this purpose!

Sartorial Saturday–A PokĂ©mon Bound

I couldn’t let our “PokĂ©mon Summer” go by without coming up with a look appropriate for the theme, so I decided to do a “Pikachu Bound” featuring the cheerful yellow Harriet-Naia dress from Miss Candyfloss.

I had to think about the accessories that best match Pikachu’s energy and color scheme…in the end, I went with a little black (gloves and Splendette beads), a little brown (hat and ankle boots), plus some red accents for Pikachu’s cheeks (Splendette Duchess Bangles), and a heart brooch to mimic the tail on a female Pikachu with a pair of lightning bolt earrings borrowed from Bunny:

I even went with a double stack of bangles, which is not something usually do:

The earrings are probably the best part of the look!

I always love a happy yellow look, but this one was extra fun to wear!

This was an entertaining addition to our summer of Pokémon!

Sartorial Saturday–Everything’s Coming Up Daisy

Did you know Daisy Duck is celebrating her 85th birthday this year? She is my absolute favorite Disney character, so I was super excited when the Disney Store online debuted this adorable dress inspired by my sassy gal!

It features puff sleeves and a full skirt with a built in crinoline, plus an embroidered faux collar and button. The pink and purple color palette is perfect for Daisy, and the bottom half of the skirt is covered with the flowers she is named for and also includes her unmistakable signature.

I accessorized with a pair of purple, daisy-covered 85th anniversary ears by BaubleBar from the Disney Store, an Erstwilder brooch, a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, and a RockLove Jewelry Daisy Duck necklace.

I also have a sparkly, fuzzy, Daisy Duck Loungefly mini backpack…I’ve wished for something like this for a while, and this is exactly what I had in mind!

I attaached a signature bag charm from BaubleBar, too:

This is the perfect look to celebrate my favorite duck!

Sartorial Saturday–Summer Stripes

Time for one last look at the Chérie Bardot collection from Miss Candyfloss, this time featuring the lovely striped Juliette-Rose dress.

This classic dress has a lovely Sabrina neckline, and is made of a very soft and comfortable fabric.

I accessorized primarily with black, which I think looks great with the red and white stripes of the dress. I wore a black boater hat and gloves, an Erstwilder brooch, and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles, plus a Rocklove Jewelry necklace that features a black chain and a red crystal:

The back of the dress features a somewhat unusual and beautiful v-neckline:

One of my favorite details of the dress is that the stripes on the bodice are horizontal, but the skirt has vertical stripes…it’s such an interesting pattern, and really breaks up the look!

This is a great look for the warmer months!

I’m already looking forward to the autumn/winter collection…I can’t wait to see what it holds!
