Jenny January

Yesterday was the last day of “Jenny January,” a week for us Jenny skirt and dress fans to wear our favorite Pinup Girl Clothing pieces. I wore five of my eight Jenny skirts over the course of the week, culminating with one of my two favorite prints, the Paris Jenny, yesterday.

With one exception (that Paris Jenny), these aren’t the actual outfits I wore over the last week (you might have seen those on Twitter); instead, I decided to share my favorite stylings of each Jenny skirt in my collection:

I’m sure there will be more Jenny skirts in my future, as this is my absolute favorite style offered by Pinup Girl. I’m always looking forward to seeing the new designs that appear in the “Coming Soon” section of their website, and I also love dreaming up ideas for prints I wish they would make (A London print is number one on my wish list, with a cherry blossom print a close second!). I know one thing for sure, though…I won’t be truly content with my Jenny collection until I finally get my hands on a purple harlequin print skirt!

Pink Stripes & Boats

From the moment I purchased my Mary Blair boat print Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing, I hoped I would find the perfect pink and white striped top to go with it. Sure, I had other shirts that paired well with the skirt, including one that gave off a great elf vibe in December. But when I saw this “Troublemaker Top” available for preorder from Vixen by Micheline Pitt, I knew it was a match made in heaven…and I was right!

I also love the way it looks behind my Erstwilder brooch!

Not only is the shirt a perfect match, it’s also really well made. I love the weight of the material, and at this time of year, it’s nice to have another long-sleeve shirt that goes with my Pinup Girl skirts. I’m looking forward to creating more pairings…I have quite a few pieces that will also go well with my new top!

Mommy & Me Fashion

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Pinup Girl Clothing’s Mary Blair prints. They’re some of the funnest prints they offer! And Chickadee always oohs and aahs over all my Pinup Girl clothes, because of the twirl factor, but especially the Mary Blair items. And since elephants are her favorite animal, she’s always begging me to wear my circus elephant print skirt.

The day I learned that Pinup Girl was going to be offering a “Little Mary” dress in Chickadee’s size in the circus elephant print was a day I knew I was going to be a little poorer. There was no way I could not get that dress for her. We had to be outfit buddies, and so I waited no-so-patiently for several months for it to be released. You should have seen the way her face lit up the day it arrived!

This is the only Pinup Girl dress I’ll be buying for Chickadee because, let’s face it, I can’t afford to clothe someone who grows so fast in a wardrobe of couture. But this one dress is so special, and for me, more about the memory we will have than anything else. I only wish that I had gotten in on the pink striped peasant top for myself before it sold out, so our outfits could be even more similar!

Paris in Winter

I’m still working on finding ways to make my Pinup Girl Clothing skirts and dresses work during the colder months of the year. For cool, but not too cold days, I like the way this sweater looks with my Paris Jenny skirt.

It’s a good thing I don’t mind being a little chilly, because most of the time, I don’t want to wear tights, so my legs are always feeling the breeze!

Christmas Reds

Yesterday’s outfit was inspired by Christmas greens…today is all about Christmas red! And candy cane stripes, to boot!

I think that’s the end of my Christmas-themed outfits…for this year, anyway. Who knows what I might come up with next year?

Italian Christmas

I’ve already shared a few outfits that paired bold, bright reds and greens. This time, I’m going for a slightly more subdued, yet still Christmas-colored, look that includes one of my favorite Jenny skirts…the Italian landscape print.

They may be different shades of green, but I still love the way my Christmas tree brooch looks on this top!

Sometimes I’m still shocked by how much I love this particular top from Pinup Girl Clothing, because I had never worn this color before, and I wouldn’t have thought it would look good on me. As it turns out, it’s a flattering shade of green for my skin tone, and I’m glad it goes with so many of my skirts!

Candy Cane Style

I am all in on candy cane stripes and elf style today, and I’m not even sorry! Like the red and green outfit I shared last week, this is another Pinup Girl Clothing look that I have refrained from wearing until now, even though I love Mary Blair transportation prints with stripes, because the colors are so Christmas-y This is the one time of year I know I can get away with this look, though. And my favorite Christmas brooch also goes perfectly with the outfit!

The print on the skirt may not have a Christmas theme, but the overall look is very festive, don’t you think?

Green & Red

I have refrained from wearing this outfit up until today, because even though the Pinup Girl Clothing Mary Blair boats skirt goes together really well with this red Harley top, the green and red combo just screams “Christmas!”

Well, it’s Christmastime now, so for the next six-ish weeks, I figure I can wear it with abandon:

Of course, it gets pretty chilly here come December, so I need to add something to keep my arms from freezing, and this white bolero is just right for it!

I love a Christmas-inspired outfit!

Stripes and Umbrellas

I have been meaning to wear this striped jailbird top and Mary Blair umbrella print Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing for months, but for some reason I never got around to it. I finally thought to put the outfit together over the weekend, for our visit to Grant’s Farm. I don’t care what “they” say about plus-size women wearing stripes…I love the way the black and white looks with the pink! This is one of those outfits that just makes me immediately happy when I put it on!

My Mary Blair Obsession

It’s no secret that I love Mary Blair, an artist who created illustrations for Little Golden Books and also worked as an animator for Disney beginning in the 1940s, on films including Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland. She even posthumously won the Winsor-McCay award for her contributions to animation, and a Disney Legend award for her contributions to the Disney Company. Pinup Girl Clothing has a collection that was made as part of a collaboration with her estate, and features her whimsical artwork and bold colors. It was thanks to this collection that I first learned about Mary Blair’s work and legacy early in 2015. I have added quite a few of these pieces to my wardrobe, and now I have transportation, animal, and other novelty prints in both skirts and dresses. While not all of my Pinup Girl  outfits feature Mary Blair, well over half of the skirts and dresses I’ve purchased do have her artwork. I don’t have every Mary Blair print Pinup Girl has produced, but I do think it has become a full-blown obsession for me!
